Navia is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.

  • It orbits the system's secondary star.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Navia is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a white main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
Navia has two stars in the star system.

Notes[edit]

The two stars of the Navia system have an average separation of 27 AU and orbit a barycenter that lies between them.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

  • The mainworld, orbiting the secondary star.
  • x3 secondary rocky worlds. Two orbit the primary star, one orbits the secondary star.
  • x4 gas giants. Two orbit the primary star, one orbits the secondary star, and one has a circumbinary orbit, circling both systems at an average distance of 165 AU.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Navia is tidally locked to the system's secondary star.

  • The star is always high in the sky on the bright face, it hangs on horizon in the twilight zone, while the cold dark face is in permanent darkness.
  • The world experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.

It orbits within the prime region of the secondary star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Navia is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Navia has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Navia has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

  • The most sophisticated local lifeforms are analogues to mosses and lichens. They have an extremely slow lifecycle.

World Starport[edit]

Navia has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World Technology Level[edit]

Navia possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government[edit]

Navia has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law Level[edit]

Navia has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

World Military[edit]

No information yet available.

World Economy[edit]

Geologic surveying.

Trade Data[edit]

No information yet available.

World Demographics[edit]

Perhaps 10 individuals currently live on Navia.

5 of them live and work at the downport.

World Culture[edit]

The population seems to made up of adventurers and explorers. All wanted to be officially recognized as the official owner of the world, or at least an owner of record.

The oldest surviving original is a human woman "Sara Milton", 88, who showed actual official records of her marriage to "Thomas Milton" and a documented flight plan from Aetna. She lives at the Navia downport, and works there at the front desk or in the social hall.

Urbanization[edit]

The downport is the only urban center on Navia.
