A Maker (also known as a Makershop, Fabricator, Fabber or Fab) builds tools, parts, and equipment from raw materials. The Maker is a combination of multiple tools, using additive (3D printing and sintering) and subtractive (machining) manufacturing, to create useful objects.
Makers require feedstock, a pre-manufactured specifically designed material (or materials). Feedstock comes as spool of wire or thread, a container of fine powder, a bottle of liquid, or similar kind of thing. These are manufactured to a high degree of precision and purity. You can buy cheap feedstock, but it's not recommended. Feedstock is sold in Kg units, and making a 1 kg item requires between 1kg and 2kg of feedstock, depending on the item.
Standard design of Makers come in one of four sizes, rated for the maximum size of the item that it can create. If you want something larger than the size of your Maker, you build it in parts and assemble it outside the Maker. The sizes are Liter, the Lan (135 liters), the Roup (1350 liters / 0.1 Dtons), and the Ton (13,500 liters / 1 Dton). The Maker itself is approximately twice the size of the manufacturing chamber. This extra space hold tooling and the feedstock (spools, containers, tanks).
A maker can take a while to manufacture a part, a Liter or smaller part takes up to 10 minutes, a Lan size part or tool takes about an 1 hour, a Roup sized item takes 6 hours, and a Ton sized items can take up to a day.
Liter and Lan makers require an external power source (a vehicle or starhips power is sufficient). The Roup and and Ton sized makers at TL–12 include a Fusion+ power source which requires annual maintenance and refueling. Otherwise they also require access to a power source.
There are two limitations what the maker can manufacture. The first is the maker requires a detailed specification of the item to be manufactured. Normally this isn't a problem as, at least within the Imperium, the specifications of most tools and parts are published and available of a modest fee. Creating the specification for a unknown item depends on the complexity of the item, and can take anywhere from a few minutes to several days.
Second is the limitations of the available feedstock. A maker can not manufacture an item without the correct materials to work from. Most of the commercially available designs include a list of alternative materials, but using these may result in an item which is heavier or not as safe. Material use also depends quite heavily on the TL of the Maker itself. Manufacturing and materials handling techniques evolve with the available technology, and the maker manufacturing tends to be two or three TLs behind. This does mean a maker can not replicate itself.
Basic feedstock is available for Cr30 per kilogram. Some exotic materials can be more expensive.

Medical Kit
Medical Kit | |

Type | Medical |
Tech Level | TL–7 |
Cost | Cr2,000 |
Size | 10 liters |
Weight | 10 kg |
A Medical Kit is a portable unit containing basic medical supplies. It is designed to be used to provide immediate treatment to someone who is injured or who suddenly becomes ill. The bag or case is durable and resistant to the effects of climate and environment. It has handles and carrying straps for ease of retrieval and use. It includes multiple internal pockets that are clearly labelled.
The kit is primarily intended to treat minor injuries, but in capable hands it is also sufficient to treat serious wounds. Its contents can be used to assist with the treatment of radiation burns, chemical burns, poisoning, and drug overdoses. It can be used for the treatment of animal injuries
The TL–9+ versions include Skin Glue, which rapidly seals surface wounds and accelerates the healing process. Skin Glue is far superior to surgical glue or sutures and reduces the need for antibiotics and dressings.
More sophisticated versions of the kit may contain resuscitation equipment, surgical supplies, and diagnostic materials.
Tools in a standard medical kit include: A variety of small medical tools in sealed packets, hypoallergenic gloves (typically 2 pairs), simple fasteners such as safety pins, sharp scissors, thermal blanket, thermometer (typically electronic or a heat-reactive strip), torch, often head-mounted, with extra power cells, tourniquet, tweezers.
Sterile dressings to treat and protect injuries including adhesive bandages (plasters) in several sizes, adhesive sutures, elastic bandages, elasticated joint supports, fabric bandages, hemostatic pads, splints, sterile pads of different sizes, surgical glue or skin glue.
Items to aid and assist treatment: absorbent sheets, adhesive tape, antiseptic solution and wipes, chemical cold packs, chemical heat packs, dental repair kit, eyewash solution with eyebath, mouthpiece for giving CPR, soap, skincare products.
A medical kit may include a variety of drugs and pharmaceuticals. They are typically supplied in pill form and are taken orally, though some types of medication may need to be administered by inhalation or injection. If necessary, they are supplied with a suitable applicator. Drugs and pharmaceuticals are generally kept within a separate container inside the medical kit. They may include: Analgesics and Painkillers, Antibiotics, Antihistamine lotions and tablets, Antitoxins including treatments for bites and stings, an Autojector, Respiratory Inhaler, Opines.
Note that possession of common, widely available medical drugs may be illegal on some worlds or in some cultures. Being caught in possession of banned substances may carry very heavy penalties.
Documentation is provided with the medical kit in a diagrammatic, easy to follow format, typically on a wipe-clean plasticized paper. It provides instructions showing the correct usage of the various items contained within the kit and is generally written in multiple languages. The documentation typically includes: An up to date first-aid manual, A manifest of items including expiration dates, and a log of inspections, usage, and replacement.

Cost | Cr15,000 |
Size | 20 liters |
Weight | 14.5 kg |
The Personal Reentry Kit (PRK) was originally developed as a means of emergency atmospheric reentry from a crippled space vessel, and then quickly adopted by the military, which provided a glamorous raison d'etre for jump troops.
Each kit consists of an inflatable hemispheric mold, a pressurized canister of ablative foam, and a chemical thruster for attitude and limited vector adjustment. The kit includes a soft landing system (usually a parachute).
The PRK has no provision for defensive decoys and depends on its operator for maneuvering instructions instead of the on-board computer used in military drop capsules.
