An Logh is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the United Followers of Augurgh in the Aegaek Subsector of Tuglikki Sector.
- This world has a Vargr Corsair Base.
- Around 50% of the population consists of Vargr.
- Approximately 50% of the population is made up of humans.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Early History[2][edit]
The world of An Logh was founded by a slow-ship from Terra's Hebrides Islands that suffered several mishaps on route and only arrived at its destination in -43, never having reached its full jump potential. The expedition had a target planet: the world selected was in a region dominated by non-human Vargr, lying far beyond the ancient crumbling remains of the Ziru Sirka and the decaying ruins of the Rule of Man. Despite ongoing Vargr expansion within the sector, when they arrived the world was still barren.
However, the planetary criteria provided in the ship's database did not accurately reflect the UWP Data and conditions the settlers found when they arrived - officially at least this was explained as "corruption to the database". In addition, they never received the support and supplies they had been promised, supposedly due to arrive around the year -10, and felt surrounded by foes, abandoned, and forgotten.
In addition to large stocks of equipment and supplies, the colony ship brought many types of Terran camelid (including Llama, Vicuña, and Alpaca), which were already acclimatised to low pressures by their high-altitude Andean origins. These hardy creatures sustained the world during its perilous first days and became the basis of a herding culture that carried the world forward.
Settlements had been founded, largely in the form of fortified compounds atop networks of excavated chambers and tunnels, and the human settlers were well-established when they were contacted by Vargr traders and Corsairs. Such meetings were generally amiable, though when things did descend into violence the settlers proved to be dour, resilient fighters who became feared for their martial prowess. Over time the agents of these Corsairs settled on the planet, bringing their families with them and establishing the Aekhu Vargr contingent of the world's population.
An Logh, the name the humans gave their world in their Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) language, literally means The Forgotten[3].
An Logh's inhabitants have spent more than a millennia digging into the planet's surface and buying off raiders from the various Corsair packs that swept through the region and demanded tribute. Family compounds generally consist of extensive networks of chambers and tunnels.
World Starport (St)[edit]
An Logh has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- Called Rionnag by the Human population and Fuekgangtue by the Aekhu Vargr, this is an oceanic submersible platform whose exact position varies.
World Population (P)[edit]
An Logh has a population of 100,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- Around 50% of the population is made up of Aekhu Vargr.
- About 50% of the population is composed of human.
Urbanization[edit]
The starport (Rionnag) is the only sizeable community on the planet – it is home to around 1,000 mostly Aekhu Vargr.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
An Logh possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
An Logh has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
World Law (L)[edit]
An Logh has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
The world specialises in the export of frozen and dried meats and the fixing of broken ships, no questions asked.
Other important industries include pastoral farming and ranching, and unique hand-crafted items.
- The best hand woven blankets could sell for Cr10,000 each in the Imperium.
- In 1104 a claymore sword manufactured for Empress Arbellatra (and presented by her to an Admiral in the 620s) sold for Cr1.2 million at auction on Magash.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 8 (moderate)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 4 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 4 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 5 (very aloof)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)
With about 10,000 Sophonts on world in about 500 families from two disparate races, they basically fall into 5 major Nighean and about 20 small ones. Each Nighean maintains a song-cycle of their genealogy and slights that occurred 500 years ago are still major factors in modern politics. The oldest of these is Nighean Moira and is said to be descended from the original ship's executive officer.
The human groups maintain a slew of dialects of Gaelic as their primary languages. Some of the Vargr Aekhu dialects spoken by local herders wouldn't be recognised as such.

Circa 1200[4][edit]
An Logh's inhabitants had spent more than a millennia digging into the planet's surface and buying off raiders from the various Corsair packs that swept through the region and demanded tribute. Slowly, the families of the agents of these Corsairs settled on the planet, establishing the Aekhu Vargr contingent of the world's population. These groups used the extensive cavern networks to hide away or their negotiation skills to bargain their way out of trouble. The families became insular factions as each wave of Corsairs or new danger loomed larger than the previous one.
The United Followers of Augurgh were unusual in that they were better organised than any group since the early days. The appointed governor was less oppressive than many - and had gone completely native by the 1140s marrying into one of the older Vargr lines.
Arrival of Virus[edit]
Virus arrived in 1144 as part of the wave that entirely eliminated the United Followers of Augurgh as a political entity. It acted just like another raider in many ways and the fact that every homestead was almost permanently at war with the universe at large gave the population a resilience in the face of the onslaught that was not seen elsewhere. They didn't hang together, but against yet another external threat they weren't hung separately either. They negotiated various deals that meant that they supplied passing craft and thus were able to get the goods needed to survive.
World Starport (St)[edit]
An Logh has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- Rionnag was destroyed 1144. By 1200 the town was an overgrown ruin with a relatively low radiation level. Legends persist that those who know where the floating part of Rionnag is located still visit it, and that it can only be found it if you have been there before. The facilities for starship repair in this period are typically small family-run workshops spread across the world - each repair takes time, mostly organising the parts.
World Population (P)[edit]
An Logh has a population of 100,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- Around 50% of the population is made up of Aekhu Vargr.
