Denkard (Subsector) Synopsis

About half the subsector is claimed by the Hochiken People's Assembly, but the internal politics of that troubled nation are such that worlds distant from the capital may be almost entirely beyond its control at least some of the time.

The subsector can be a difficult place to do business, largely due to the politics of the HPA.

Description

Denkard, subsector C of Gateway, contains 21 worlds with an estimated combined population of 22 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,883, and a total economy of BCr107,559. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr1,696 through 17 starports (3 Class A, 3 Class B, 10 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 250,490 people. Driving this interstellar trade are six Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and three Industrial (In) worlds. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 11 at Galvestar (Gateway 2008), Orcana (Gateway 2105), and D!h-v'n (Gateway 2304).

Denkard, subsector C of Gateway, contains 29 stars and 237 identified planets; 13 monostellar systems, eight binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 18 of the 21 systems (85%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, one Poor (Po) world, no Vacuum (Va) worlds, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Denkard has an estimated population of 22 billion distributed across three High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, seven Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, three Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Galvestar (Gateway 2008). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Hochiken People's Assembly

The Hochiken People's Assembly has jurisdiction over ten worlds in this subsector with an estimated combined population of 4 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,113, and a total economy of BCr20,191. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr976 through 10 starports (2 Class A, 2 Class B, 5 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 143,750 people. Driving this interstellar trade are two Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, three Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 7 and 9). The highest technology level is 10 at Darmin (Gateway 1907) and Renquist (Gateway 2002).

The Hochiken People's Assembly has an estimated population of 4 billion within the subsector, distributed across one High population (Hi) world, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, one Non-industrial (Ni) world, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Shaneyfelt (Gateway 1904). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds.

Akeena Union

The Akeena Union has jurisdiction over one world in the subsector with an estimated population of 40 million, a per capita income of Cr700, and a total economy of BCr28. Driving this economy are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds.

The Akeena Union has an estimated population of 40 million within the subsector distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, no Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, no Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. History & Background (Dossier)

Some of the coreward systems in Denkard were originally, if presumptively, claimed by the K'kree of Star's End Sector. When the Hochiken People's Assembly began rapidly expanding, this caused some alarm. Not truly prepared for war, the Star's End K'kree pragmatically decided that if they hadn't gotten around to using those worlds in two thousand years, they probably didn't need them. They drew the line there, however, letting the Hochiken leadership know in clear terms that there would be no further real estate transfers. That state of affairs has held ever since, making the coreward border ironically the most peaceful and stable in the Assembly.
