Subsector D of Gateway Sector. It is notable for the Akeena Union, a state governed by the Akeed.
Description[edit]
The K'kree have a presence here, and in contrast to the situation in the Renkard Worlds to rimward, it is generally peaceful. They trade with the Akeed, who are non-offensive to K'kree sensibilities by virtue of their meat-free diet.
Occasionally a mobile shipyard from Banserada can be sighted in a system many parsecs from home.
Summary[edit]
Lowton, subsector D of Gateway, contains 21 worlds with an estimated combined population of 7 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,989, and a total economy of BCr36,870. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr37 through 16 starports (2 Class A, 3 Class B, 10 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 7,270 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, three Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Lowton maintain one Naval base. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Akeen (Gateway 2708) and Bem (Gateway 3207).
Lowton, subsector D of Gateway, contains 34 stars and 227 identified planets; ten monostellar systems, nine binary systems, two trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 17 of the 21 systems (80%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, five Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, six Poor (Po) worlds, one Vacuum (Va) world, and four Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Lowton has an estimated population of 7 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 12 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, four Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Nng Min Sa (Gateway 2506). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups including one native sophont.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]
There are 14 Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Lowton with an estimated combined population of 373 million.
Akeena Union[edit]
The Akeena Union has jurisdiction over seven worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 7 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,122, and a total economy of BCr35,941. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr27 through 6 starports (0 Class A, 2 Class B, 3 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 5,085 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in the Akeena Union maintain one Naval base within the subsector. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 6 and 11). The highest technology level is 12 at Akeen (Gateway 2708).
The Akeena Union has an estimated population of 7 billion within the subsector, distributed across one High population (Hi) world, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, six Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, no Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Nng Min Sa (Gateway 2506). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups including one native sophont.
- The capital of the Akeena Union is Akeen (Gateway 2708).

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes: 1105[edit]
The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this area:
- Boden Reach
- Lekedaa Branch: One system, a rimward terminus.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Lowton has the same low stellar density as the subsectors immediately to spinward. This makes transit into the much denser systems of Hkur! Subsector to coreward a more difficult prospect, limiting trade in that direction.

The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Akeed languages
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many Human worlds; in this region, mostly variant dialects.
- Galian: The Solomani-derived language of Human corporate interests and star nations of Gateway Sector.
- Raxkiir: A language developed by clients of the K'kree, a heavily derived variant of !kee suitable for humanoid use. It is commonly used by those trading with K'kree interests, as well as client races acting on behalf of the Two Thousand Worlds.
- Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many Human worlds.
