Renkard Worlds
A term used popularly in Gateway Sector to refer to worlds under threat from the Lords of Thunder, or whose military and political circumstances are defined by preparing resistance to Lords of Thunder annexation, be it threatened or presumed.
The term is taken from the Renkard Union, a polity that as of the 1100s is in the process of being fully conquered by the Lords.

The Lords of Thunder are a faction of aggressive K'kree who left the Two Thousand Worlds to settle in Luretiir!girr Sector, immediately to trailing of Gateway. They have been moving spinward for centuries, overwhelming worlds one at a time, with the local population converted to vegetarianism or exterminated. Eventually the Lords of Thunder reached the boundaries of the Renkard Union, a Human state on the trailing border of Gateway Sector. The Union requested help for many years, hiring mercenaries and receiving support from others who feared the K'kree advance. Fearful of acting openly lest they be targeted, many governments acted surreptitiously to reinforce Renkard.
The term 'Renkard Worlds' came to refer to any world threatened by the Lords of Thunder, whether it belonged to the Union or not. Many worlds in the trailingmost subsectors of Gateway now support large militia movements -- legal and otherwise -- dedicated to preparing for invasion. A few suffer from movements seeking to overthrow their government to install one better prepared for the anticipated fight.
