Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Darmin is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Darmin has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Darmin has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Darmin has the potential to be developed into an aquaculture ‘breadbasket’, but this would require a level of coordination and cooperation rarely seen in the Hochiken People's Assembly.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Darmin has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Darmin has a population of 6,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.

Urbanization[edit]

The 6,000 inhabitants live in a single floating city anchored in an island chain near the equator. When necessary the city can move slowly, enabling it to relocate to the most sheltered position. Most storms can be ridden out in place but when a particularly violent one is forecast the entire population battens down and the city is moved to safety. Upon occasion it has been necessary to cut the anchor chains and allow the whole settlement to be blown downwind.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Darmin possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Darmin is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

This world is part of the Hochiken People's Assembly. The HPA as a whole is governed from the orbital "People's Administrative Center" at Granth.
