General Description

The Sutherland class is a streamlined, flattened wedge with a mean width of 160 meters, a mean height of 95 meters, and a length of around 400 meters: a boxy dorsal superstructure adds an additional 40 meters of height. The superstructure, the squared bows and the slightly irregular shape of the hull increases the internal space, giving the ship a total enclosed volume of approximately 2,700,000 cubic meters.

1.	Tonnage	The Sutherland class is constructed using a 200,000 dTon hull built in a wedge configuration. The hull is streamlined and has good atmospheric capability: its atmospheric handling characteristics are entirely reliant on its onboard gravitic systems. Individual sections of the ship are divided by bulkhead walls. There are multiple personnel airlocks. The cargo hold is accessed by doors and has a loading ramp. The bulk of the hull prevents surface landings without the use of a specialized hull cradle to support the vessel.
2.	Crew	Total Crew Complement: x1,782 x100 Command, x700 Engineering, x341 Gunnery, x400 Service Crew, and x41 Flight. x200 Marines Accommodations There are x894 Staterooms. x894 Staterooms are given over to crew quarters. The captain and senior staff receive an individual cabins: other quarters are double or triple occupancy. There are x12 Low Berths, primarily used to store casualties. Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Sections of the ship can be isolated in the event of an emergency. There are multiple Emergency Lockers.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a DeVoss-type Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-5 drive, and a Power Plant-6, giving performance of Jump-2, 5G acceleration, and producing 12,000 Energy Points. The ship has an agility rating of 3 and an emergency agility of 5. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for one Jump-2 and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. The engineering section has a main control room. Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery. The jump drive utilizes a hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/6fib Computer: there is a backup Model/6fib Computer. There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, an advanced sensor array, and has an Avionics suite. It is fitted with multiple backup systems. It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command.
5.	Hardpoints	2,000 hardpoints. The listed battery groupings are considered standard for the class. Alternative battery groupings may be designated for specific missions.
6.	Armament	Ten particle accelerator bays, forty 100 ton missile bays, four hundred and twenty dual fusion gun turrets, four hundred triple beam laser turrets. The weapons include the best spinal mounted factor K meson gun available at this technology level.
7.	Defenses	The hull is heavily plated, braced and structurally reinforced, giving it a armor rating of 12. x10 100-ton Bays mounting Repulsors. x500 triple Sandcaster turrets, typically grouped into fifty batteries each of 10 linked turrets. The vessel is equipped with a meson screen and a nuclear damper. It is fitted with backups for each device.
8.	Craft	10 x 10T single place Light Fighters, 10 x 30T Ship's Boats, and the marines have twenty capsule launchers and 180 assault capsules reafdy for orbital insertion.
9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 52,000 dTons. The hull is fitted with fuel scoops. The vessel is equipped with fuel purification equipment.
10.	Cost	The basic cost of the vessel is MCr264,701.550. Both craft are standard designs. Detailed architectural plans are widely available and no design fee is chargeable. If multiple examples of the design are ordered all of the ships in the production run qualify for a 20% discount, which reduces the price per unit to MCr211,761.240.
11.	Construction Time	224 weeks (56 months) as standard. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12.	Comments	This ship is the first of her class and a few more have been built. They serve as the flagships of the naval squadrons. These have been recently completed as part of a massive arms race against their enemies The Last Line.

History & Background (Dossier)

The class are designed and built at Jaradin for the Unity of Sed and primarily operate within the coreward parts of Halcyon Sector. One prototype vessel is known to have been completed and an additional three production models are believed to be in service. Only fleet admirals can command these vessels.
