To Imperials, this is known as the Captain Aesvall Subsector, named for an early explorer who supposedly charted much of the Great Rift. Aesvall's starcharts later become a byword for fraud and invention; much of the data turned out to be little more than rumours picked up in starport bars, and the rest pure invention.
