Taproban is a fluid world with oceans of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, or hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. This world is designated an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Million Subsector of Deneb Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Taproban, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.

Era: New Era
Taproban is a barren fluid world with oceans of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, or hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
- This world has no overt population, government, or law level.
- This world could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so... This world was once settled and developed, but the inhabitants have either died off or left leaving behind the remnants of their civilization. It is a unclaimed Non-Aligned world in the Million Subsector of Deneb Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
The primary star's name is of Vilani origin.
System Data[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Taproban is a corruption of the Ancient Greek name "Taprobana" for a Terran island also known as "Sri-Lanka".
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Taproban is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Taproban has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Taproban has 75-85% of its surface covered by a non-aqueous liquid.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Imperial Landed Nobility (N)[edit]
Taproban, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial marquis.
- Taproban is the fief of the Marquis of Million[2].
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Taproban has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated Imperial Naval Base, hosting elements of the 61st Fleet.
World Population (P)[edit]
Taproban has a population of 70,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
World Demographics[edit]
Humaniti, population 100%
World Languages[edit]
- Anglic
- Vilani
- Because of the proximity of the Vargr Extents, Aekhu is also spoken by starport officials.
Urbanization[edit]
The habitations of Taproban have historically been constructed to be defensible because of the continued low levels of Vargr buccaneering that have occurred over the centuries of its settlement. They were not generally sufficiently large as to make tempting targets for massive strikes while being large enough for collective defence.
As much as 10% of the population (Just under one million people) were based in orbit at the planet's peak occupation.
World Government (G)[edit]
Taproban is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Military[edit]
In 1105, Taproban is both the host to half the 61st Fleet, and sponsors its own colonial squadrons[3]:
- 1st Taproban Assault Squadron
- 2nd Taproban Assault Squadron
- 1st Taproban Scout Squadron
- 2nd Taproban Scout Squadron
- 1st Taproban System Defence Squadron
- 2nd Taproban System Defence Squadron
- <Unnamed> Mercenary Squadron
- <Unnamed> Mercenary Squadron
The world government has issued some 24 Letters of Marque
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Taproban has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Taproban possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Economy[edit]

Trade Data[edit]
Taproban had a significant trade surplus mainly because it is on a minor trade route running from Atsah Subsector into Vargr territory[4].
World Infrastructure[edit]
This world possesses TBD infrastructure.
World Culture[edit]

World Timeline[edit]
Pre-Imperial[edit]
Taproban was unsettled in pre-Imperial times
Imperial[edit]
Taproban troops played a key role in the Civil War (600-629)/Second Frontier War (615-620) when they successfully fought to stabilise the border against Vargr incursions[5].
For centuries Taproban formed a triumvirate of power in Million Subsector with Fel (Deneb 2904) and Aerfor (Deneb 3104)), drawing on support from, and supporting both the Duchies of Atsah and Antra at various times[6].
Abandonment[edit]
Taproban was completely deserted by 1136 as part of the Abandonment.
