Reeman is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Wolf Subsector of Zarushagar Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- This world has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
- It is a member of the Rhamsteppe-Mongrebi Main, forming part of the region known as the Adni Run.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Reeman has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x3 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Reeman is the only rocky terrestrial planet of the four in the system to orbit within the habitable zone and to have water.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Reeman is a young system and the mainworld is geologically active, with volcanic gases contributing to the atmospheric taint. In addition, the oxygen levels are low because of the primitive nature of local lifeforms. Many of the native microbes produce hazardous metabolic waste products, while other organisms are small enough to float within the atmospher and if inhaled can pose a significant health risk.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Reeman is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Reeman has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The atmosphere is tainted by gases of volcanic origin.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Reeman has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Reeman is a member of the Rhamsteppe-Mongrebi Main. It is a part of the Adni Run region of the Main.
The nature of planetary conditions never lent itself to fixed colonial holdings. The orbital starport and yards service traffic passing through. Megacorporations bid on annual contracts for sending harvesters into the depths to collect natural resources – these are administered at the subsector governmental level. Permanent residents dwell in and crew large vessels / habitats. Most work in the service industries to cater to the interstellar traffic and scout requirements.
Most of the resource collection operations on the world are conducted using submersibles in order to avoid severe local weather conditions and the atmospheric taint. Non-native crews tend to rotate off planet when they get the chance.
- Life support equipment is a commodity that is very much in demand.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Reeman has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world is host to a Scout Base. It was selected as a facility for routine servicing and refueling of scout vessels.
World Population (P)[edit]
Reeman has a population of 70,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Reeman possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Reeman has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
Each independent ocean-going habitat-vessel is a government unto itself, though certain codes and policies are agreed to by all captains to operate here, which serve as the foundation for the local laws. Most vessel operators are company men in one way or another, operating as independent businesses and staying out of each others' way or collaborating with offworld interests. It is possible to sail for a very long time on Reemen and not meet anyone.
- Imported technology allows some measure of comfort but living space is always at a premium on the vessels, rather an ironic situation on a world with such a low population density.
- The handful of "permanent" installations are large rig structures that serve as submerged anchor points for service and maintenance of the big vessels.
World Law (L)[edit]
Reeman has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
The Imperial Scouts and the Marine security details assigned to the world back up local enforcement officers and collect those malcontents that the local authorities cannot handle.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Reeman, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.
Trade Data[edit]
The sparse local population – and lack of human contact – means that entertainment media has a ready market here.
- Importance: 1 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
The local economy is limited to some trade and barter of parts and materials as necessary between the smaller operators and crews. Large corporate vessels have their own offworld support and logistics shipments; they tend to ignore the smaller operators.
Native organics are edible by humans and can be harvested; they provide the types of biological raw materials that the Vilani in particular prefer. Raw materials and minerals are exploitable, though most deposits are too small to justify the cost of large scale industrial investment.
- Resources: 9 (moderate)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 4 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 2 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 5 (very aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
World Timeline[edit]

- circa -250,000: the Ancients are active within the sector.
- -9235: the Vilani discover jump drive technology. Over the centuries pioneers and settlers gradually spread across Charted Space.
- -5400 to -4015: the Vilani Consolidation Wars.
- -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims and settles worlds across the region.
- -2404 to -2215: the Interstellar Wars.
- -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man administers the worlds of the region.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night.
- The Year 0: the Third Imperium is founded.
