Silum is a pre-agricultural, moderate population rich garden world with over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts.

  • Garden worlds are known for their near-ideal utopian environments conducive to most sophonts, plants, animals, and other forms of life.
  • It is a pre-agricultural world with an environment suitable for large scale agricultural and livestock industries that have not yet been widely developed.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Vaait Subsector of Massilia Sector in the Domain of Sylea.
  • This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
  • It is a member of the Keum Cluster region of the Greater Massilia Main.
  • During the Long Night it lay within the Rebin Empire's sphere of influence.
  • At the founding of the Imperium this world was known as Uurguu.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Silum is a binary star system.

  • The primary is an orange main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
Silum has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Silum is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Silum has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Silum has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Silum is a member of the Keum Cluster region of the Greater Massilia Main, a major Main and important trade route lying across parts of Massilia Sector and Zarushagar Sector.

The Rebin Empire[edit]

During the Long Night this world fell within the Rebin Empire's sphere of influence. It benefitted from trade agreements and defense policies imposed by the Empire, but it struggled with the Empire's unilateral decision-making, interference in its internal affairs, occasional military interventions, and most significantly its views on gender roles. The Empire gradually disintegrated in the centuries before the founding of the Third Imperium, with interstellar trade slowly dying off and some of the worlds it had overseen becoming depopulated.

  • It was considered a Provincial World by the Empire and was afforded fewer rights and protections.
  • The worlds that the Empire controlled or interacted with have a distinct Rebin cultural flavor to the present day.
  • Despite its many shortcomings, the Rebin Empire was overall considered a force for good and most worlds are proud of their association with it.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Silum has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Silum has a population of 200,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

Locals speak with a distinctive Rebin accent.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Silum possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

World Government (G)[edit]

Silum is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

World Law (L)[edit]

Silum has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Silum, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdoms of three members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -1 (unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: A (abundant)
  • Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
  • Infrastructure: 6 (limited)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: 9 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: 7 (aloof)
  • Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
  • Symbols: 7 (somewhat concrete)
