System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Sacre-Coeur is a large world with a thin atmosphere and moderate hydrology.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Sacre-Coeur is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Sacre-Coeur has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Sacre-Coeur has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

The small oceans contain very high levels of dissolved mineral salts. Valleys bracketed by mountain ranges hold most of the rivers and large bodies of potable water.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Sacre-Coeur is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.

  • Visitors are advised to act with caution.

It is a member of (and the namesake of) the Coeur Cluster, a small cluster and minor trade route lying within the rimward-trailing quadrant of Aldebaran Sector.

The world has a working planetary economy, albeit at low-tech levels.

Personal Notes: Sacre-Coeur is very friendly to visiting starships in their hails. They also are very quick to assert that they have very modern starport facilities. I was able to do the basic scans on my way in, so I knew full well that this a higher gravity world. The heavy scout craft have the required M-3 drive for that kind of situation, but they didn't know that. I assume they acquire any number of M-1 craft this way. The class C starport clearly does not support assisted orbital lift; fair warning. I was provided decent accommodations, and granted "ambassadorial" status; this status meant I was required to attend "State functions", and basically get asked any number of questions by politicians and barely disguised intelligence officers, while being fed alcoholic drinks and good food. I found it was a very comfortable time of being uncomfortable. After being pumped for extra-system information for a week or two, I was allowed to depart.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Sacre-Coeur has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Sacre-Coeur has a population of 60,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

  • The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Sacre-Coeur possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Sacre-Coeur is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

World Law (L)[edit]

Sacre-Coeur has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.
