Rom's Loch Subsector is subsector P of Yiklerzdanzh Sector.
- It is a divided frontier region on the fringe of settled space.
Description / Specifications[edit]
Astrographic Features & Trade Routes[edit]
The following astrographic features, trade routes, mains, clusters, and traces can be found within this area:
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Rom's Loch Subsector, right:
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
Borealis Group[edit]
The Borealis Group can be seen as a bright, dense, noticeable grouping of stars in the skies to Spinward-rimward.
- It is a huge cluster of stars centered on the supergiant Theta Borealis.
- It is a distinctive astrographic feature that can be observed from all across Charted Space.
The Borealis Group contains significant amounts of gas and dust that reflects and refracts the light of the stars, giving it an ethereal glow.
Rom's Rosette[edit]
Rom's Rosette is a cluster of six giant stars lying in the coreward-central part of Rom's Loch Subsector.
- Its member systems are Caveat, Chejieb, Duneed, Glenaura, Iareflonzal, and Odreitsvoz.
- Each star is around a parsec (about 3 light years) distant from its two neighbors.
- There are suggestions that a rogue world known as Epicenter lies within the center of empty interstellar hex Rom's Loch 2833.
The six primary stars of these systems all appear to have evolved into stellar giants at the same time.
Five of the six giant stars retain no rocky secondary worlds, instead being ringed by multiple planetoid belts.
- There is evidence to suggest that each belt was once a planet.
- The only worlds in these systems are gas giants and their moons.
Although information about this huge astrographic feature is limited, research indicates that it seems to have originated at least 250,000 years ago.
- Chejieb is noted as being an Ancients Site. It apparently dates to the same period as the Rosette's formation.
- Iareflonzal is home to a large subterranean community of Chirpers, who appear to have been transplanted to the world at around the same time.
Both of these worlds are moons of gas giants.
World Listing[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Rom's Loch subsector is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map. However, note that some of this data is incorrect or out of date.
- World articles may have slightly different data: some elements of the data contained within articles has been updated.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
Verified updated data is constantly sought.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
