Duneed is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and are both non-agricultural and nonindustrial in nature.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • These worldlets have very few prospect for economic expansion.
  • It is a member of the Glenauran Signatorate in the Rom's Loch Subsector of Yiklerzdanzh Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

  • It is a turbulent white bright giant.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

The system does not contain any secondary rocky worlds or gas giants.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Duneed is an Asteroid Belt mainworld.

It orbits within the far outer system.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Duneed is an Asterioid Belt or Planetoid Belt consisting of a few very large objects with diameters of hundreds of kilometers, thousands of bodies of a few kilometers in diameter, and millions of smaller objects. Asteroid Belt is used when the belt is the mainworld of a system. Planetoid Belt refers to any non-mainworld belt within a system.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Duneed is an Asteroid Belt, where all the bodies are in vacuum conditions requiring the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle a belt.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

The Duneed belt contains a few icy bodies. A few belt objects have frozen volatiles on their surfaces.

  • Wilderness refueling is possible within the belt, provided a suitable icy object can be found.
  • Water for the inhabitants is generally imported and is extensively recycled.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held chart of the belt exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

The primary star causes intense interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.

Although Duneed has a moderate population, it has some of the largest merchant houses in the subsector, making it a centre of speculation and investment. Duneed was also an early builder of spacecraft to support belter activities and habitats.

Duneed has authority over a region of Odreitsvoz. The multinational makeup of the occupying forces on that world prevent the Izrats Kriezhlas Unity from liberating the planet, since such an invasion would effectively be declaring war on most of the Glenauran Signatorate.

The system is part of a cluster of stars known as Rom's Rosette.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Duneed has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Duneed has a population of 30,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

Urbanization[edit]

Cities are tunnelled into large rocky planetoids.

  • Each has its own starport.
  • Smaller facilities exist on other rocky bodies.
  • Structures and facilities are sealed.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Duneed possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Duneed is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

Each settlement has a number of votes based on its population, which leads to the selection of the portfolio ministers. These in turn choose the head of government, called the Prime Minister.

World Law (L)[edit]

Duneed has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Culture[edit]

The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.
