Fortuna Subsector is subsector H of Neworld Sector.
- It lies within the Solomani Confederation.
- It was once named Excalibur Subsector and is also widely known as Mazu Subsector.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Fortuna Subsector:
Astrographic Features[edit]
The subsector is a generally unremarkable frontier area lying within the Solomani Confederation.
- It is a low stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the white main sequence primary of the Despin system.
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Fortuna Subsector, right:
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
Rift Regions[edit]
The subsector contains three rift regions: the Fortuna Rift, the Despin Rift, and the Bautzen Void.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)
Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic and commercial concept based on Jump Drive performance.
- Most commercial vessels typically use Jump Drives capable of Jump-3 or less.
- Areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
- Rifts represent a considerable obstacle to interstellar trade and commerce.
Economic Astrography[edit]
Trade Routes[edit]
High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along the clusters and traces of the region, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds. Jump-2 and Jump-3 feeder routes work their ways around the rifts and voids that dot the region, linking the various clusters and traces.
Clusters[edit]
Corporations[edit]
Corporations and organizations known to be active within the subsector include:
- ConTech, a corporation specializing in life sciences, particularly large-scale bio-terraforming projects, medicine, and cloning.
- Guardian Military Systems, a large corporation involved in defense and armaments manufacture, with its core area of operations within Aldebaran Sector.
- Layaefui, an Aslan corporation that specializes in exploration, scouting, and surveying.
- Orion Metallurgy Corporation (OMC), a Solomani organization engaged in resource exploration, extraction, and processing throughout the region.
- Panstellar, a major Solomani transport and logistics corporation.
- Probable Technologies, a scientific research organization involved with academia and heavy industry. It works extensively with the Confederation military.
- Rising Phoenix News Service (RPNS), the premier news and media organization within the Solomani Sphere. It has a strong pro-Confederation bias.
- Star Patterns Trading, a Hiver corporation involved in transport and logistics. It maintains good relations with both the Solomani Confederation and the Imperium.
- Transstar, a Solomani megacorporation specializing in transport and logistics. It operates across 13 sectors, represented by the 13 stars in its logo.
- ZeeCorp, a corporation with interests in manufacturing active throughout the Solomani Confederation. It is a major producer of robots.
Goods[edit]
Notable local commodities include:
- (none currently listed)
Security & Defense[edit]
The worlds of the subsector are patrolled by the Solomani Navy. It defends Confederation territory, protects Confederation interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures interstellar trade and commerce.
- Confederation vessels may demand customs inspections.
- Some systems are defended by local naval forces.
World Listing[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds that lie within Fortuna Subsector is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
Subsector Summary: 1105[edit]
Fortuna, subsector H of Neworld, contains 15 worlds with an estimated combined population of 20 billion, a per capita income of Cr7,792, and a total economy of BCr155,870. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr2,369 through 14 starports (6 Class A, 1 Class B, 6 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 365,205 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Fortuna maintain four Naval bases and four Military bases. The average technology level is 10 (with most between 6 and 13). The highest technology level is 14 at Despin (Neworld 2815) and Zera (Neworld 3013).
Fortuna, subsector H of Neworld, contains 19 stars and 174 identified planets; 11 monostellar systems, four binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 13 of the 15 systems (86%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, two Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, three Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Fortuna has an estimated population of 20 billion distributed across three High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, three Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, eight Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population world is Despin (Neworld 2815). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Solomani Confederation[edit]
The Solomani Confederation has jurisdiction over ten worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 20 billion, a per capita income of Cr7,792, and a total economy of BCr155,870. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr2,369 through 10 starports (4 Class A, 1 Class B, 5 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 365,190 people. The governments in the Solomani Confederation maintain four Naval bases and four Military bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 11 (with most between 9 and 13).
