Liigash is a rich, pre-agricultural world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in size.
- The world's agricultural industry is growing and some economists forecast an explosion in this world's agribusiness in the near future as new agro-technology and a more capable labor force are imported.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
- It is a member of the Lancian Cultural Region, a sub-polity of the Third Imperium, located in the Isi Ahto Subsector of Gushemege Sector.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It is the homeworld of the Graytch, a non-human sophont species.
- Nearly 100% of the population is composed of Graytch.
- It is part of the Graytch Cultural Region.
- The Graytch know it as Ga-ray-cha-la-ha.
- This world was named Yuzma on Rule of Man and Long Night-era astrographic charts.
- Liigash is located on the Vilani Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Liigash is a binary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent, unstable yellow-white supergiant named Maasrikya.
- The secondary is a brown dwarf substellar object.
Maasrikya[edit]
Maasrikya is a star that should not exist. Supergiants burn through their hydrogen so extremely fast that their stellar lifespans are measured in hundreds of thousands of years -- it should have run out of hydrogen and catastrophically exploded as a supernova aeons ago, leaving behind a white dwarf stellar remnant. However, Maasrikya continues to burn, and as evidenced by its developed star system has done so for two to three billion years, giving it a lifetime at least ten thousand times longer than other similar types of star.
Two theories are currently popular. The first holds that the star was artificially created by some unknown intelligence, long before the Ancients existed. It is supposedly maintained by fantastical technology that breaks helium and other heavier elements back into hydrogen, constantly recycling the star's fuel and which continues to function to the present day. The second proposes that a unique space-time anomaly (or perhaps a tiny "white hole") exists deep within the star and somehow dumps vast quantities of fresh hydrogen into it, by an unknown process, from some external source. Presumably these same processes remove the heavier elements created by the fusion processes within the star, as it does not appear to be gaining mass.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x9 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants.
Inner System Worlds
- First Planet: Kno-ge-fer, a very hot rocky world.
- Second Planet: Li-pai-ren, a hot rocky world.
- Third Planet: Thi-nu-lar, a small vacuum world.
Habitable Zone Worlds
- Fourth Planet: Liigash, the mainworld and the homeworld of the Graytch. It is also known as Yuzma.
- It is a cold world, orbiting towards the outer edge of Maasrikya's habitable zone.
- It orbits just beyond the star's enormous Jump Shadow.
- Fifth Planet: So-cho, a large world supporting a population that rivals Liigash's own.
- It is a cold world, orbiting close to the outer edge of Maasrikya's habitable zone.
Outer System Worlds
- Sixth Planet: Liv-mo-ric, a small cold rocky world with a thin, tainted atmosphere.
- Seventh Planet: Lon-fin-ver, a cold rocky world.
- Eighth Planet: Mor-si-ta, a gas giant.
- Several of its moons are rich in useful petrochemicals, still used in industry on Liigash.
- Ninth Planet: Pen-fou-var, a very cold rocky world.
- Tenth Planet: Mah-ben-hor, a very cold rocky world.
- Eleventh Planet: Han-per, The second gas giant in the system.
- Twelfth Planet: Whi-ri-tal, a very cold rocky world.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Liigash is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Liigash has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Liigash has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Landmasses are generally small. Most, especially the equatorial island clusters, are covered in dense jungle. Only the southern polar ocean is devoid of island chains.
Islands include the following:
- Li-toe-vie
- U-ma-tran-ji.
Satellites[edit]
Liigash has two moons named Den-yit-la and Chu-bar. Many ancient cultures on the planet identified the smaller, faster-orbiting Den-yit-la with an unruly child, and the larger, slower-orbiting Chu-bar with its father.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
The world has abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche.
- Native lifeforms are cryophilic - they thrive in low temperatures.
Flora:
- Beh-ri-han: Primitive Graytch used its fibres for sails on rafts.
- Ena-lo-mon: A plant that produces large seedpods.
- Hal-ta-try: A tree. Its wood is very light and was historically used for building rafts.
- In-far-ri: A tree. Its wood is used for building and artistic carvings.
- Ton-gad-liz: A tree.
- Yu-gu-ra-fi: A tree. Its wood is quite valuable.
Fauna:
The dominant life form on this world are the thay-tra, a group of semi-intelligent omnivores ranging in size from 1 kilogram to massive 5,000 kilogram beasts. No threat or competition to the thay-tra, the small proto-Graytch survived and flourished at the feet of the planet's dominant creatures. Today, the Graytch protect the thay-tra, who dominate the ground as the Graytch build cities in the forest canopy.
Other branches of life corresponding to fauna are the Gra-der-vel, the phylum of lifeforms to which Graytch belong, and the aquatic Wha-lin.

- Ku-an-o
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Liigash is the homeworld of the Graytch, a minor sophont species.
The world is part of the Lancian Cultural Region.
Due to the Imperial Naval Base here, much of the system is considered to be under military rule, reflected in local government codes.
This world and its system have had many names, a result of the multiple powerful cultural blocs of which it is and has been part:
- Ga-ray-cha-la-ha: The native name, meaning something like "home of the Graytch"
- Maasrikya: A name in Old High Vilani, applied to the star by early Vilani explorers before the founding of the Ziru Sirka.
- Liigash: The designation in Modern Vilani, and so the preferred name on Imperial star charts.
- Yuzma: A Solomani translation of a native name, applied briefly during the Rule of Man and enduring on some charts through the Long Night
- Borrun: A name in Kehuu, the langauge of the Lancian Cultural Region, of which Graytch space is part.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Liigash has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to a Naval Base.
- The downport is a vast honeycomb, spreading out over the canopy some 20-30 metres above it. On the top side of the honeycomb are the various landing pads. A key station is the Starport Agency, the government body that oversees starport operations, while the Immigration and Trade agencies also have a presence.
- The startown is an extension of the facilities provided for the corporate and starport workers. There is a conglomeration of smaller companies and traders who maintain their own retail and leisure space, and this is often the best place to find cheap accommodation.
World Population (P)[edit]
Liigash has a population of 600,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
- The population almost entirely consists of Graytch.
World Languages[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Ga-ray-cha, the primary language of the Graytch.
- Kehuu, the primary Lancian language, as common on the worlds of the Cultural Region as Anglic or Vilani.
- Ushi, a language used throughout Gushemege Sector.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
Urbanization[edit]
Cities are suspended in the canopies of the great jungles. Inhabiting the surface is uncommon. Some modern cities are so large that they span entire islands, like huge steel caps. Graytch cities are fully three-dimensional; offices and homes are clustered beneath roofs or on platforms.
The capital city is Fu-nin-hil.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Liigash possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Liigash has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
The Graytch local government consists of 78 agencies, each overseeing a single aspect of government control. The Agency of Agriculture administers the food supply and allocation of farm resources; the Agency of Transportation maintains and constructs roads and train nets. As bureaucracies go, the Graytchs' is fairly responsive, but its agencies are also localised, and distant citizens might have to wait longer for particular services.
- Agency of Agriculture
- Agency of Exploration
- Agency of Immigration
- Agency of Imperial Relations
- Agency of Justice
- Agency of Peacekeeping
- Agency of Thay-tra Affairs
- Agency of Trade Subsidies
- Agency of Transportation
- Agency of Welfare
Government bureaucrats are chosen by exam at the end of schooling and tend to then stay with the post for life. The highest levels of government are the Tal-mo-pai, a legislative council with a representative from each agency, and the Vel-fo-cet, an executive council of eight Graytch drawn from the Tal-mo-pai.
World Law (L)[edit]
Liigash has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
- In Graytch courts, a judicial board is established for each trial session, the board members drawn from the public at large. The board act as judge and jury, and also handle sentencing. The Agency of Justice appoints an advisor to ensure that all goes smoothly.
- Graytch legal codes treat almost all crime as an example of mental illness, and hand out banishment as one of their most substantial punishments.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility (N)[edit]
Liigash, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdoms of three members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial viscount.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 3 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: C (very abundant)
- Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
