Description (Specifications)

The Assault Shuttle is designed to ferry troops and cargo with some degree of protection. It has no jump capability and relies on carriers to transport it between systems. The class is operated by the Imperial Korsumug Navy. The vessel is a Jansa design. It is typically crewed by Jaibok.

General Description

The Wraith class is a gunboat and utility vessel with 4-G performance. It is armed with twin turret-mounted beam lasers as well as a fixed missile rack: some crews choose to swap this out for a sandcaster for additional protection. It has a broadly wedge-shaped profile, with a wide bow tapering to a narrow aft, and is relatively tall for its length. It is fully streamlined, allowing atmospheric operations and enabling it to perform surface landings.

2.	Crew	Total Crew Complement: 1 x1 Pilot. A Gunnery / Electronics position is located adjacent to the pilot. Accommodations The main compartment has x70 removable passenger acceleration couches. The vessel is fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and has full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems within the vessel. There are multiple small emergency lockers.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Maneuver-4 drive and a Power Plant-7, giving performance of 4-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 4. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient to give the power plant approximately 5 days duration. The engineering section is controlled from the cockpit. Access to the machinery can be gained via a sealable hatch.
4.	Electronics	The cockpit area contains x2 acceleration couches and control equipment. The vessel is fitted with a Model/2 Computer: no backup computer is installed. The computer functions as a Model/1 Computer due to the lack of a bridge. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a standard sensor array, and has an avionics suite. It is equipped with a sophisticated ECM package. It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command.
5.	Hardpoints	x1 hardpoint.
6.	Armament	The vessel effectively has a mixed triple turret. This takes the form of: x1 turret holding x2 Beam Lasers x1 hull-mounted Missile Rack. The missile rack mounts x3 standard Anti-Shipping Missiles.
7.	Defenses	The hull is plated, braced and structurally reinforced, with an armor rating of 5. The vessel is not fitted with screens or other passive defensive systems.
8.	Craft	The vessel carries no subcraft.
9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 1 dTon. The hull is fitted with intrinsic fuel scoops. The vessel is not equipped with fuel purification equipment and can work efficiently using unrefined fuel.
10.	Cost	The basic cost of the vessel is MCr92.980 Architects Fee: MCr9.298 If multiple examples of the design are ordered all vessels in the production run qualify for a 20% discount, which reduces the price per unit to MCr74.384
11.	Construction Time	32 weeks as standard, 26 weeks in bulk. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12.	Comments	The vessel has no inherent cargo space. If the passenger couches are removed the craft has a cargo capacity of up to 35 dTons. Couches must be removed in pairs: each pair of couches removed creates 1 dTon of cargo space.

Vessels of the Korsumug Empire are given alphanumeric designations and callsigns by other interstellar states. KU refers to 'Korsumug Utility Craft' (a designation applied to all Korsumug smallcraft, except fighters, whether they are combatant or non-combat), 8 is a type indicator, and 'b' refers to the version of the vessel, relating to its construction tech level. Type codes will often repeat: 'Wraith' is an easy to remember name to identify the specific type of vessel.
