History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along the worlds of the Trace carrying huge amounts of goods and commodities to its varied markets. Jump-2 and Jump-3 feeder routes work their ways around the rifts and voids that dot the region, linking the Trace to outlying worlds.

Exploration here didn't go smoothly, partly because three of the five mainworlds on the Trace are classified as Hellworlds. Although they were eventually settled for exploitation, only around 2,000,000 people live and work here. Merrick's Sorrow did see a period of heavy exploitation, but changing political agendas in the Confederation saw the world gradually depopulated and all but abandoned. Desolate and Forlorn are the current focus of what limited attention remains on the Trace, each with around 1,000,000 people.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on activities and events within the Trace to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
