Gorram is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.
- This world has yet to take off economically or otherwise and the population remains low for reasons largely unknown.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Lunion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- This is a "forbidden" world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here.
- Gorram is a member of the Spinward Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stellar Data
Gorram is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 large gas giant named Waseid.
Mainworld Data
The system's only gas giant, known as Waseid to the locals, has an elliptical orbit around the primary. Twice during the local year Waseid is visible in the skies of Gorram, easily able to be be seen with the naked eye.
Mainworld Size (S)
Gorram is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Gorram has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Gorram has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)
Gorram is a Forbidden World and is designated as a Red Zone. It presents serious risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors.
- Travel to this world is prohibited.
Gorram is interdicted to allow study of its primitive inhabitants.
Due to the elliptical orbit of the gas giant the Imperium has restricted refueling at Waseid during the "Visible Cycle" to prevent the local inhabitants from seeing possible ships in the night sky. This is enforced by routine patrols of units from the Imperial 187th Light Escort Squadron.
The University of Mora Byret Cultural Anthropology Department has a long standing research program and often sends survey ships to research various aspects of the Gorramite society. The Gorramites are in the beginning of the age of sail. The experimental development of sails to utilize wind power on both the vast lands and the oceans for moving transport. The sails vary in design and are complicated contraptions to cover a massive area to capture the power of the wind in the thin atmosphere of Gorram.
World Starport (St)
Gorram does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.
World Population (P)
Gorram has population of 800 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
Linguistic Topography
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Local languages, descended from a dialect of old Anglic.
World Technology Level (T)
Gorram possesses a Technology Level of TL–2.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay, the printing press, long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Water wheels and wind power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Riding beasts and creature-drawn wheeled vehicles.
- Water: Sailing vessels.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability or ride-able flying beasts available.
World Government (G)
Gorram is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
World Law (L)
Gorram has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
