Notes

The primary-secondary binary pair have an average separation of 25 AU and orbit a barycenter that lies between them.

The tertiary star lies approximately 550 AU from the primary-secondary binary pair and orbits a barycenter that lies between it and them.

History & Background (Dossier)

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Ladon is a Forbidden World and is designated as a Red Zone. It presents serious risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors.

  • Travel to this world is prohibited.

Native Sophont

It is the homeworld of a recently discovered aquatic sophont Minor Race colloquially referred to as Squiddies. Almost nothing is known of them except that they inhabit the benthic zones of their worlds seas. Most authorities agree that there are likely to be large numbers of unrecorded natives living on the vast seabeds of the world.

  • Squiddies appear to have known about humans for a long time, but have chosen not to make contact.
  • They were accidentally discovered by a resource survey team prospecting for seabed minerals.

Although it lies within the territory of the Confederation, the world is not officially a member of that state, choosing instead to remain as a technically neutral world. Despite its neutral status, it relies on the Confederation for trade and defense and actively cooperates with Solomani interests.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while a few see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.

World Starport (St)

Ladon does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Population (P)

Unknown Sophont 01.jpg

Ladon has a population of 200 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
  • The known population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
  • There are probably very large numbers of so-called Squiddies inhabiting the ocean depths and seabeds.

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)

Ladon possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

World Government (G)

Ladon is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

World Law (L)

Ladon has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
