Milo is a low-population garden world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- It is a garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most forms of sophontic life.
- Both the population and economy of this world are expected to grow in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Wovoka Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
Description / Astrography & Planetology
No information yet available.
System Data
The larger primary star of the Milo system is a rare G9-spectra star, one of the smallest G-class stars on record.
3 Gas Giants — 2 Planetoid Belts — 5 Other Worlds
Mainworld Data
Milo is considered a garden world, despite its thin atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography & Topography
Milo is a standard sized world, with significant polar icepacks, and plentiful oceans.
At lower altitudes, the atmospheric pressure can approach 1 atm on rare days, but a trip into the mountains will require a respirator for most sophonts.
Mainworld Map
No information yet available.
Native Lifeforms
Milo has considerable plant life at the lower elevations, but has a stark and low treeline. Most plants have adaptations similar to Terran conifers.
History & Background / Dossier
Milo was settled by the Milo family, originally from Europa. Gustav Milo was the grandson of Chaim Milo, the billionaire industrialist. The family fell out of favour on Europa after a series of disastrous political terms, and they and their followers emigrated to the barely surveyed Milo. Gustav brought as much materiel and technology as his could purchase, expending the vast majority of his wealth in this effort. That said, his downport, Gustaville, is somewhat underwhelming and dated, as his clan has not made the necessary maintenance and upkeep a priority.
The population follows the Church of Quesada. The Quesadan Inquisition has no authority on the world.
World Starport
Milo has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
Gustaville is the term used for the downport and its attendant startown.
World Technology Level
Milo possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
The colony started with considerable technological artifacts, but over the years, most have ceased to function. Nonetheless, 2 of the 3 fission plants are still online, and seem to be maintained adequately. Other artifacts seem to be undamaged, merely needing appropriate maintenance or in some case power adapters. The main issue is the lack of advanced education amongst the clan population; there are schools, but they seem to focus on biased political theory.
World Government
Milo is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
World Law Level
Milo has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
World Military
All adult males appear to own two or more long arms. Women seem to prefer carbines and pistols. Children are trained in the use of light hunting slug rifles at an early age.
World Economy
Agricultural economy, with some hunting of imported species.
Trade Data
A 200ton merchant vessel is being worked on at Gustaville.
World Demographics
Humaniti 100%
World Culture
Europan derivative culture, which is to say, dated Solomani culture.
Urbanization
Gustaville startown is the 2nd largest settlement, with the largest being Stella which operates one of the powerplants. The town of Humbert has signage indicating its location, but apparently is the site of the one defunct power plant...and is abandoned.
