Temeraire is a rich, agricultural world with improving living conditions due to a bustling agro-economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world is rich with high-grade living conditions, a good climate, and a non-harmful environment. Immigration registration for this world is always in high demand.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Conda Subsector of Daibei Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It is notable as the homeworld of the Evantha, a Minor Race.
- 60% of the population is composed of Evantha.
- About 40% of the population is composed of baseline humans and other non-human sophonts.
- This world has previously been known by a number of other names including:
- Castor (Da 3020)
- Sebastino
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This world is part of the Tukera Cluster.
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Temeraire has two small moons (Kabitha and Thasros), and the remains of a third form a bright ring around the planet.
- The planet rotates once every 20 hours.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Temeraire is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Temeraire has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Temeraire has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]
Temeraire is a scenic world with huge mountain ranges, vast equatorial deserts, extensive steppes, and several small seas dotted with islands created by its many volcanoes.
A southern continent is named Esral; a northern continent is Donathai.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Native Sophont (NIL): Evantha[edit]
A people who have colonised a number of systems, unofficially still retaining a united identity under the Evantha Protectorate.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Temeraire, also known as Castor to the Solomani, is an important, rich, agricultural world and the leader of the former Evantha Protectorate, long since assimilated into the Third Imperium.
Imperial High & Landed Nobility[edit]
Temeraire, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial minor duke.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Temeraire has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The downport is named Treydotha.
- There is an associated Naval Base, hosting elements of the Imperial 234th Fleet.
World Population (P)[edit]
Temeraire has a population of 20,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
World Demographics[edit]
World Languages[edit]
- Anglic (influenced by both Core Anglic and Rim Anglic)
- Evantha languages: Currently the dominant language is Detran.
- Vilani
Urbanization[edit]
Most Evantha towns feature a cluster of slender, tall buildings surrounded by industrial centres, air and space ports, or hunting parks. Individual buildings are open and airy, with spacious rooms, balconies, and skylights. Shops and markets are open-air.
World Government (G)[edit]
Temeraire has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
There are 73 nation-states on Temeraire, currently under the control of the Spiral Path political movement.
Municipal government is left to the citizens of individual cities and towns, using computerized direct-vote or representative democracy (depending on the local Tech Level), without much interference by the central body.
Few formalized procedures exist in Evantha society. Bureaucracy is alien to their culture; record-keeping is a necessary evil, but evil nonetheless.
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Temeraire has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Temeraire possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
Any cheap, high-quality technological goods may be welcomed here, although the Evantha tend to sneer at the mass-produced items of giant Human corporations as lacking in proper character.
World Culture[edit]
Evantha young are very dependent on their parents. Children accompany parents as much as possible, at home and during work. When they become adults, most find a substitute family by devoting themselves to a cause larger than themselves, not so much on its own merits as to give direction to their lives.
Trade[edit]
Evantha equipment is beautifully made and unlikely to break but costs at least 50% more than equivalent Human items; the result of Evanthan preference for individuality and style at the cost of standardization.
Historical Data[edit]
World Timeline[edit]
- (-4238): Evantha develop successful spacecraft and achieve spaceflight.
- (-4233): First Contact between the Evantha and the Vilani.
- (-4014 to -2423): Pax Vilanica.
