Detran

Detran is the most prominent language of the Evantha, and their small cluster of worlds within the Third Imperium. This is a recent development, due to current politics; the Evantha have many nations and many languages.

Political Background[edit]

Detran is the language of the Detrans nation, on the Evantha homeworld of Temeraire. With support from the Third Imperium, the charismatic dictator of Detrans, Shirani Kay, proceeded to unify the 72 other nation-states of Temeraire under the banner of her party, dedicated to world unification, interstellar trade, and support of the dominant religion.

The planetary government of Temeraire, and of 12 of the 17 worlds in the Evantha Protectorate, is therefore the political party Spiral Path. Loosely translated, the term literally rendered as “spiral path” can either mean “manifest destiny” or “cautious progress.” The other five Evantha worlds are balkanized with a variety of democratic and other governments, but all have one or more nations that support Spiral Path.

Lexicon[edit]

Io-Seth: Idiomatically translated, “Scales of Justice”; a vigilante group fanatically dedicated to preventing injustice and oppression of individuals.

Kythari: The force of order, creativity, and light.

Lir: The force of entropy, evil, and darkness.

Maia: “Shadow”. In Initiates of Light symbolism, the idea of the shadow is a positive one: the shadow is cast by the light, a reflection of the power of Kythari in this world. Capitalized and used with a certain inclination, it carries the sense that the title holder is the one chosen by Kythari to represent the world. Shirani Kay carries this title.

Shythari: "Touched by fire".
