Subsector N of Gateway Sector.
Description
About half of Ariel Subsector is territory of the Viyard Concourse.
The breakup of the old Galian Trade League had varying effects on the now-independent worlds of Ariel. Some worlds barely noticed, others were fought over or lost vital offworld goods and suffered a drop in technology level.
The subsector is also noted for the homeworld of the Faar, a people who nowadays don't like to leave home but who apparently travelled across the sector and beyond in a previous era.
Summary
Ariel, subsector N of Gateway, contains 18 worlds with an estimated combined population of 4 billion, a per capita income of Cr3,611, and a total economy of BCr14,812. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr47 through 18 starports (2 Class A, 3 Class B, 10 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 7,350 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Ariel maintain four Naval bases and one Scout base. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 13 at Alphaaric (Gateway 1133).
Ariel, subsector N of Gateway, contains 26 stars and 194 identified planets; ten monostellar systems, eight binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 15 of the 18 systems (83%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, four Poor (Po) worlds, no Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Ariel has an estimated population of 4 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 11 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, three Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Balaclaron (Gateway 1637). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups including one native sophont.

Viyard Concourse
The Viyard Concourse has jurisdiction over nine worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 4 billion, a per capita income of Cr3,656, and a total economy of BCr14,698. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr43 through 9 starports (1 Class A, 2 Class B, 5 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 7,005 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the Viyard Concourse maintain one Naval base within the subsector. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 11 at Whister (Gateway 1338).
The Viyard Concourse has an estimated population of 4 billion within the subsector, distributed across one High population (Hi) world, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, four Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, three Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Balaclaron (Gateway 1637). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.
Non-Aligned, Human-dominated
There are seven Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Ariel with an estimated combined population of 81 million.
Client state, Third Imperium
The Client states of the Third Imperium in Ariel encompass one world with an estimated population of less than 1 million.
Galian Federation
The Galian Federation has jurisdiction over one world in the subsector with an estimated population of less than 1 million, a per capita income of Cr0, and a total economy of BCr0. Driving this economy are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds.
