Alphaaric is a low-population, nonindustrial world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.

  • As a nonindustrial world, It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • The Lo population code refers to Faarview (see below) rather than the planet itself.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Ariel Subsector of Gateway Sector.
  • Once again, the human dominance refers to Faarview.
  • This is the homeworld of the Faar sophontic species.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

An independent system in the Ariel Subsector jointly managed by representatives of the Galian Federation and by the system's own native, nonhuman civilization, the Faar.

The class-A starport designates the human construct known as "Faarview", an orbital colony/station circling Mashan, the system's primary gas giant. This construct is generally considered the mainworld.

The Alphaaric system is a member of the namesake Alphaaric Drift.

Stellar Data[edit]

Alphaaric has a solitary primary star.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Alphaaric is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Alphaaric has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Alphaaric has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Native Sophont: Faar[edit]

Alphaaric is inhabited by the Faar, a highly advanced civilization which, for various reasons, nowadays has no interest in developing jump drive or exploring beyond its own world.

  • Human studies of the Faar are continuing. There is evidence that in the past they did travel beyond their world, and settled other systems in Gateway.
  • In the meantime, a brisk and highly lucrative trade in high-tech electronics, novelties, and recreational devices continues between Galian traders and the Faar Domains.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Alphaaric has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • This description refers to the Faarview station.

World Population (P)[edit]

Alphaaric has a population of 20,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • Note again that this is the population figure for Faarview, not for the planet itself. In almost all circumstances, visitors to the system will be interacting with the residents of Faarview and will not be invited to proceed to Alphaaric itself.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Alphaaric possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government (G)[edit]

Alphaaric is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

World Law (L)[edit]

Alphaaric has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
