Subsector J of Gateway Sector.
Description[edit]
Beckann Subsector is an avenue for commerce between the successor states to the old Galian Trade League, but these nations are also in dispute over ownership of centrally-located worlds. The necessity to maintain interstellar trade links means that agreements limit warfare to the locations currently in dispute. These are not always honoured, however, and commerce-raiding attacks are always a possibility.
Subsector Summary: 1116[edit]
Beckann, subsector J of Gateway, contains 23 worlds with an estimated combined population of 40 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,340, and a total economy of BCr175,491. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr950 through 21 starports (0 Class A, 6 Class B, 11 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 165,680 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, four Rich (Ri) worlds, and six Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Beckann maintain two Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Taravesh (Gateway 1527).
Beckann, subsector J of Gateway, contains 28 stars and 279 identified planets; 18 monostellar systems, five binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 21 of the 23 systems (91%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, two Desert (De) worlds, two Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, two Poor (Po) worlds, one Vacuum (Va) world, and two Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Beckann has an estimated population of 40 billion distributed across eight High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, ten Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, one Low population (Lo) world, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Orage (Gateway 1428). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups including one native sophont.

These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr387 through 11 starports (0 Class A, 2 Class B, 6 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 62,725 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and four Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the Galian Federation maintain one Naval Base within the subsector. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 7 and 10). The highest technology level is 10 at Salur (Gateway 0921), Hanumisk (Gateway 1030), Cresta (Gateway 1121), Jastin (Gateway 1129), and Urel (Gateway 1223).
The Galian Federation has an estimated population of 18 billion within the subsector, distributed across six High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, four Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, no Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. Military Situation[edit]
The primary weakness of the Galian Federation armed forces is their lack of strategic mobility. The Federation is only capable of building jump-1 vessels but most of its systems are at jump-2 distance from their neighbours. Force projection outside of Galian space is painfully slow, and there is great caution in committing any major force lest it wind up in the wrong place at too great a distance to respond to changing circumstances.
