Medrealm is an agricultural world with the potential to become an industrial power.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Beckann Subsector of Gateway Sector.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Medrealm is right in the middle of Beckann Subsector, providing a jump-2 link between the worlds of the Trindel Confederacy, the Galian Federation and the Viyard Concourse. It is the logical trade nexus for the subsector, despite being of limited economic value in its own right. The construction of a Class-B orbital starport was undertaken using funds contributed by the Galian Federation, which moved to claim ownership of the system soon after. However, the Trindel Confederacy then began to exploit the annoyance of the world government, promising investment and technological assistance in return for allegiance to their own polity. This inevitably led to conflict.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Medrealm has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Medrealm has a population of 40,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
Urbanization[edit]
Cities include Rammline.
- Rammline is on a high plateau bounded to the north by the Prosven mountain range, and to the east by an arm of mountains named the Aix Ridge. The River Prosven runs close to the city, and small vessels transit from larger ports down the coast as far as the town of Trempel.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Medrealm possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Medrealm is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Law (L)[edit]
Medrealm has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.
