Zyra is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Trin's Veil Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- It is a mainworld which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- It is located within the Katarulu Cluster.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Zyra has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld. It is the largest moon of Bellus, the system's only gas giant.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giant, named Bellus. It orbits within the star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Zyra is the largest moon of Bellus, the system's only gas giant.
The mainworld and its gas giant primary world orbit within the star's Habitable Zone.
- They lie within the zones prime H region.
- They receive moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The gas giant is "puffy", warm and swollen due to the energy it receives from the star.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Zyra is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Zyra has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Zyra has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Zyra is a colony in the Trin's Veil Subsector.
The original settlement attempt dates to 200, when a forward base was built on Zyra to facilitate expansion into the Spinward Marches. A plague wiped out this colony, while in 740, a collision with an asteroid destroyed the second colonization attempt.
The current colony, governed by the Zyran Confederacy, is still young.
The planet's original survey report showed only low levels of potentially exploitable minerals. Lacking the equipment and know-how to mine these deposits economically, the Zyrans sought outside help. The interstellar firm of Telneskian Mines & Refining agreed to provide training for the locals in return for a significant share of any profits.
Recent information indicates that the original report was inaccurate, and the lesser continents hold many rich and readily exploitable metallic lodes. The Zyran Confederacy believes that the company will soon move to take over control of the government of Zyra to drain the world of its resources.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Zyra has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Zyra has a population of 60,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization[edit]
The population is concentrated around two harbor cities on the eastern coast of the largest continent.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Zyra possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Zyra is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)[edit]
Zyra has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Zyra, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
