System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The planet has a warm climate and a dense oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere tainted by high levels of carbon dioxide.

It orbits within its star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Zephyr is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Zephyr has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Zephyr has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Zephyr is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.

  • Visitors are advised to act with caution.

Zephyr was founded as a colony by Trin to supply required food and other supplies. In 1095 a rebellion by the Farm Workers' Revolutionary Party resulted in the imposition of Imperial rule and a Red Zone rating from the IISS[2]

Despite the ongoing lack of progress in resolving the political situation, the Red Zone rating was lifted in 1101. However, the world has remained as an Amber Zone since that time.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Zephyr has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Zephyr has a population of 400,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The following languages are most commonly heard:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Zephyr possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

World Government (G)[edit]

Zephyr has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

This world is governed by the authorities on Trin.

World Law (L)[edit]

Zephyr has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).

The activities of the Revolutionary Party have caused martial law to be imposed. Personal identification must be carried at all times, military personnel man checkpoints and roadblocks, and troops patrol alongside the local police force. Trin army units are deployed on the world and regularly involved in police actions.

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Zephyr, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

The Imperial nobles of Zephyr are the prime targets of the Revolutionary Party.
