Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Slorm is a binary star system.
- The primary is a white main sequence named Coire A.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Slorm is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Slorm has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences generally moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Slorm has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
A basic map of Slorm showing the division between land and water.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native lifeforms have a very different biochemical makeup to that of humans.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Slorm is a member of the Urak-Talamein Arm region of the Sylean Main, a major Main and important trade route crossing through parts of Core Sector, Dagudashaag Sector, Massilia Sector, and Zarushagar Sector.
It is the capital of the subsector and the seat of the Subsector Duke.
The world's native lifeforms, both flora and fauna, have a very different biochemistry to humans and most other sophonts. They are very toxic if ingested, and cuts, bites, stings, or even contact with fluids can transport dangerous toxins into the body. The entire population live on islands or within coastal "enclaves" that have been cleared of native organisms and maintain human-compatible environments, including large agricultural facilities (the settled lands have been locally terraformed).
- Centralized control by the world's government is considered necessary to maintain the world's agricultural output. The government ensures that native organisms do not "infect" the settlements and rapidly deals with "outbreaks" if any occur.
Despite the obvious difficulties such a process would face, a large percentage of the population would like to push out further into their world and establish independent settlements.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Slorm has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world hosts a Naval Base associated with the Imperial 163rd Fleet.
World Population (P)[edit]
Slorm has a population of 40,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
Urbanization[edit]
A number of regions have been cleared of all native lifeforms and have had non-harmful species introduced - in effect these have been locally terraformed. The habitable regions are surrounded by broad barren "sterilization zones" where any encroachments by the world's native species are rapidly dealt with.
- Despite the extensive precautions native organisms – particularly avians, flying insect-parallels, and airborne seeds and spores – occasionally make it into the habitable regions.
- When such invaders are discovered they are rapidly dealt with.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Slorm possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Slorm is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)[edit]
Slorm has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
- While there are few laws, failure to report an incursion by native lifeforms (or failure to act on such knowledge) carries extremely heavy penalties.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Slorm, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial subsector duke, who also conducts affairs regarding the entire subsector at the Interstellar and Imperial level.
