Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance. |
The Sanoet class Light Cruiser is a warship.
- It is a military ship and a Light Cruiser.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
This streamlined needle hull is a modern TL–15 Light Cruiser. It has Jump-4 range and 4 Gs acceleration, but lumbers without agility. It is streamlined for ocean refueling with scoops and fuel purification.
- It carries four heavy missile bays for orbital bombardment, four particle accelerator bays for terrorizing asteroid bases and airless moons, two fusion gun bays for close in defensive fire, and four repulsor bays to protect the unarmored hull from missile fire. There is no armor, no sand casters and no spinal mounted weaponry, typical of imperial cruisers. The balance of the weapons are numerous triple beam laser batteries to protect from missiles and enemy fighter attacks.
- It can carry 72 Gimgir class Light Fighters organized into six squadrons and a full battalion of imperial space marines. In many ways, its is more of a light carrier and troop transport than a true imperial cruiser. It carries four 70 ton shuttles, ten 10 ton AFVs, and ten 4 ton Air Rafts to support marine operations. The fighters typically deployed are incapable of close support within planetary atmospheres.
- It has 872 crew and carries an additional 500 marines. The low berths are usually reserved for the critically wounded marines or for prisoners.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
It is an imperial built light cruiser serving with the 156th Fleet in the Gimgir Subsector, among others. Envisioned as a multi-role platform, it allows local nobles to impress the locals and keep systems in line. Its track record versus ships of the line is less than stellar. It has, as a result found its way into the squadrons of quieter back water fleets where front line lethality is not the only measure of success.
