Rift Regions[edit]

Neworld Sector Rifts

The Cluster lies between three huge rift regions: the Oppenheimer Expanse to spinward, the Bautzen Void to coreward, and the Jerico Expanse, in Langere Sector to trailing.

  • Its astrographic position makes it the hub of a number of jump-3 trade routes that trail their ways across the area.

Nature of Rifts[edit]

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based purely on Jump Drive performance.

Rift regions generally relate to regular commercial traffic and the way it travels between destinations. Merchant vessels with jump-4 drives or better are fairly rare because of the higher costs involved in operating the vessel, the lower revenue generated by the reduced cargo space due to the need for large fuel tanks, and the relative paucity of technologically advanced maintenance facilities within the region. As a result, the vast majority of merchant vessels are capable of jump-3 or less.

  • Large areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
  • The nature and borders of a rift may be determined by other criteria in different regions.

In order to qualify as a rift, the region must have ten or more contiguous hexes. Many areas have minor void regions that are too small to qualify as a true rift, but are still significant enough to seriously hamper and channel interstellar travel.

Security & Defense[edit]

The worlds of the Cluster are patrolled by the Flotte, the polity's powerful navy. It defends Grüpen territory, protects Grüpen interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures interstellar trade and commerce.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along the worlds of the Cluster carrying huge amounts of goods and commodities to its varied markets. Jump-2 and Jump-3 feeder routes work their ways around the rifts and voids that dot the region, linking the Cluster to outlying worlds.

The cluster lies at a junction of jump-3 trade routes that work their way around the edges of the huge rifts that dot the regions.

The Dienbach Cluster is a culturally Germanic region. It has a reputation for hearty food, excellent local alcoholic beverages, grand music created by inspired composers, punctuality, efficiency, and an overall sense of order. Some regard it as a rather dour, humorless region.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on activities and events within the Cluster to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds that are members of the Dienbach Cluster is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.

  • Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
