Description (Specifications)[edit]

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes[edit]

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding the subsector:

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Cheaters' Route Subsector.

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rift Regions[edit]

Nature of Rifts[edit]

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based purely on Jump Drive performance.

Rift regions generally relate to regular commercial traffic and the way it travels between destinations. Merchant vessels with jump-4 drives or better are fairly rare because of the higher costs involved in operating the vessel, the lower revenue generated by the reduced cargo space due to the need for large fuel tanks, and the relative paucity of technologically advanced maintenance facilities within the region. As a result, the vast majority of merchant vessels are capable of jump-3 or less.

  • Large areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
  • The exact nature and borders of a rift may be determined by specific circumstances, tradition, or other locally important criteria.

In order to qualify as a rift, the region must have ten or more contiguous hexes. Many areas have minor void regions that are too small to qualify as a true rift, but are still significant enough to seriously hamper and channel interstellar travel.

The Cheaters' Route, the sector's primary trade route, winds among the rifts and voids.

Subsector Summary[edit]

Cheaters' Route, subsector K of Thaku Fung contains nine worlds with an estimated population of less than 1 million, a per capita income of Cr0, and a total economy is BCr0. Driving this economy are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds.

Cheaters' Route, subsector K of Thaku Fung contains 12 stars and 105 identified planets; seven monostellar systems, one binary system, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 9 of the nine systems (100%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, no Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Cheaters' Route has no inhabitants.

Unknown[edit]

The Unknown has jurisdiction over all of the worlds with an estimated population of less than 1 million, a per capita income of Cr0, and a total economy is BCr0.

The Unknown has no inhabitants.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive survey data for all worlds that lie within the subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

This subsector is named for the Cheaters' Route, the primary trade route between the Solomani Preserve and the Vargr Extents. The colony fleet that founded the Preserve had originally planned to cut itself off from Charted Space, thus the notion that a trade route would be "cheating", but in the last year of their flight, they befriended the Vargr closest to their escape from the Vargr Extents. Further, the early colony needed some parts it could not manufacture to sustain its early capabilities - and there was a ready market for the anagathics the Preserve soon found on Anagathica.

Jump-3 is required to traverse this route, as well as knowledge of the location of VoidBridge 1 (and VoidBridge 2, but this information can be acquired on Havensmith).

Polity Listing & Demographics: 1105[edit]

No worlds within this subsector are inhabited, by order and enforcement of the Solomani Preserve.

Native Sophonts (NILs): 1105[edit]

No races (sophont species) are believed to have originated in this subsector.

Major Historical Events Timeline[edit]

Major events that have affected this subsector and the wider region that it lies within:

Later Historical Eras[edit]

In general, "Later Historical Eras" refers to events that occur post-1116 – a date that marks the beginning of the Rebellion, which ultimately led to the collapse of the Third Imperium. The year 1116 is seen as a historical dividing line, as it were, between the old and the new.

The Imperial Rebellion and its consequences were largely meaningless on the far coreward edge of Charted Space – for worlds in Thaku Fung Sector the key historical event that marked the divide between the old and the new was the Empress Wave. In this context, "Later Historical Eras" generally refers to the events in the years, decades, and centuries following the passage of the Wave.

  • The Wave entered the coreward edge of the subsector around the year 1060, passing through its territory at a rate of roughly 1 parsec per year, and exited the rimward edge of the subsector around the year 1070. Its effects varied from world to world, but were never good: it left insanity, societal collapse, and death in its wake.
