Havensmith is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
- This world is also the overall capital of an interstellar government with the massive extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Solomani Preserve in the Old Perch Subsector of Thaku Fung Sector.
- This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
- This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.

Mainworld Data[edit]
This is a colony of the Solomani Preserve.
Mainworld Atmosphere[edit]
Havensmith has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Havensmith is the capital, and home to the majority of the population, of the Solomani Preserve. In a sense, all other Preserve worlds can be considered a colony of Havensmith (though this is especially true of Anagathica).
World Starport[edit]
Havensmith has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Technology Level[edit]
Havensmith possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government[edit]
Havensmith is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.

World Demographics[edit]
According to the official census presented to the Third Imperium at Geokha in 1105, approximately 90% solomani, 5% vargr, 2% each pirian and yaskoydri, and less than 1% other/decline to state. However, it is know that the Solomani Preserve counted mixed-blood humans as solomani if part of the mix was solomani. This fraction thus includes traces of vilani, darmine, and other non-solomani colonists picked up during the Flight of the Phoenix 2800 as well as pirian and yaskoydri who immigrated much later. The somewhat under 100 million vargr are a higher number than on Bath which was set up for vargr, but on Havensmith this is a relatively smaller percentage.
World Culture[edit]
As on many worlds with a tainted atmosphere and a high tech civilization, almost all people born on Havensmith have filter implants allowing them to breathe the air. In the case of Havensmith, this is one of various strains of microbes, usually given shortly after birth but also available to adults (TL 9, Cr 300, negligible mass and size, takes a few hours to implant), that filter out contaminants and regulate oxygen intake in thin or dense atmospheres, acting as a biotech filter respirator combination that runs off of a body's energy (thus doing away with the need for resupply; the microbes can handle all types of tainted atmosphere known to the Solomani Preserve). Notably, they concentrate any atmospheric taint and remove it as the user exhales, meaning the user's breath is often visible when the taint takes the form of wispy (or not-so-wispy) smoke or fog. They also do not prevent the user from tasting the air, though the microbes (which live in the mouth, nose, and eyes as well as the throat and lungs) guard against swallowing trace amounts of contaminants (not enough to provide meaningful protection against poisoned consumables). This, along with the minority vargr population, gives rise to occasional scented art, almost always using pleasant scents (audiences over the years having been generally unwilling to engage with foul-smelling art).
Even with this measure, almost all intact buildings on Havensmith can seal against the outside and filter out contaminants, and many cities are completely enclosed (with vehicle airlocks acting as checkpoints) as a further measure. In high class regions, airlock-like entrances with transparent doors (and wall/floor/ceiling art depicting the organization owning the building, or themes or motifs the owners wish to evoke in visitors) are common, though rarely interlocked in the manner of spaceship airlocks. Airport and spaceport hangars, and naval docks, are more blatantly giant airlocks; it is customary to purge and filter the air around any such arriving vehicle before clearance is granted for it to open its doors.
