Ample is an agricultural, nonindustrial, pre-rich world with a growing agro-economy, but still lacks an adequate population to expand its economy to a rich status.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This world has promising economic future although it needs to recruit a larger labor force in order to achieve the desired prosperity.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Keum Subsector of Massilia Sector in the Domain of Sylea.
- It is a member of the Yagas Arm region of the Greater Massilia Main.
- During the Long Night it was a full member of the Rebin Empire.
- At the founding of the Imperium this world was known as Imar.
- This world was colonized by and is controlled from Keum.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Ample is a trinary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
- The tertiary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ample is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Ample has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Ample has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Ample is a member of the Yagas Arm region of the Greater Massilia Main, a major Main and important trade route lying across parts of Massilia Sector and Zarushagar Sector.
The Rebin Empire[edit]
During the Long Night Ample was a full member of the Rebin Empire. It had a matriarchal government and social structure and firmly enforced strict gender roles. It carefully monitored less enlightened worlds in the region and used its status to make decisions on their behalf. The Empire gradually disintegrated in the centuries before the founding of the Third Imperium, with interstellar trade slowly dying off and some of the worlds it had overseen becoming depopulated.
- Most worlds that were members of the Empire still have a strong Rebin cultural flavor.
- The Rebin Empire was generally considered a force for good and most former member worlds are proud of their association with it.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ample has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ample has a population of 200,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
Locals speak with a distinctive Rebin accent.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Ample possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Ample has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
This world is a colony of and directly administered by Keum.
During the Long Night Ample had a matriarchal government, with all offices of state and positions of authority controlled by females.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ample has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
Among the few laws the world does enforce are regulations regarding gender status and gender roles, which generally subjugate males. The punishments for transgressions or committing offenses are particularly draconian.
- These laws are an anachronism from the Rebin Empire.
- There is an active equal rights movement.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Ample, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdom of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -4 (very poor)
World Culture[edit]
The world retains a strongly matriarchal culture. As well as inequality in pay and recompense, males often find that opportunities and roles open to females are not available to them. Males may find it hard to get service or representation without a female escort to speak on their behalf. Visiting males are expected to adhere to the world's social norms and face the same penalties as locals if they break them.
- Heterogenity: 2 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
- Strangeness: 2 (typical)
- Symbols: 5 (concrete)
