Tsaegag Subsector is Subsector D of Provence Sector.
- It lies within Charted Space.
- It is part of the Vargr Extents.
Description / Specifications
Tsaegag Subsector is a region that has seen millennia of settlement by Vargr.
- The resources of the subsector are being exploited.
Astrographic Features & Trade Routes
The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Tsaegag Subsector:
- The subsector is a low stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the red giant primary of the Ugouksnge system.
- No trade routes are known to pass through the subsector.
Stellar Distribution
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Tsaegag Subsector.
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
The Tsaegag Subsector has an estimated population in 1202 of approximately 936 million, a decline of 89% from its Pre-Collapse population. Oekh Dal has the highest population (600 million) while Khvhaergvaetsorrgh has the highest tech level rating (10). The Tsaegag subsector had an estimated population in 1120 of approximately 8.5 billion. Its highest population was 8 billion at Oekh Dal. Khvhaergvaetsorrgh had the highest tech level (14).
Rifts and Voids
The subsector lies on the spinward edge of the Windhorn Rift.
- The rift hinders travel and commerce within the region.
- It has placed a boundary on settlement and expansion within the area.
A simple map showing the general extent of the Windhorn Rift.
300 px
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map.)
The nature and limits of the rift may be determined by different criteria in different regions.
- Generally, its boundaries are based on jump performance.
- Areas may traditionally be considered rift regions, even though all of their worlds are accessible to ships equipped with high performance drives.

Tsaegag, subsector D of Provence contains 11 worlds with an estimated population of 8 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,206, and a total economy is BCr44,184. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr351 through 11 starports (3 Class A, 5 Class B, 3 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 49,340 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Tsaegag maintain four Naval bases, and one Corsair base. The average technology level is 10 (with most between 9 and 12). The highest technology level is 13 at Uedh Kal (Provence 3108).
Tsaegag, subsector D of Provence contains 15 stars and 130 identified planets; seven monostellar systems, four binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 11 of the 11 systems (100%) have native gas giants. World Listing
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may contain contradictory or incorrect information.
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, is likely to be out of date.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
History & Background (Dossier)
A backwater subsector of the Empire of Varroerth, the Tsaegag subsector encountered fewer Vampire attacks than the average subsector. This was probably due to the low stellar density in the area. While in many cases it only takes one attack to render catastrophic results (Gvoghaellthoe Kugk, Khok Ae, Uedh Kal) some worlds did not suffer greatly (Khvhaergvaetsorrgh, Ugouksnge, Okhdzueg, and Tsaegag).
Khvhaergvaetsorrgh (2501) was one of the worlds that joined Lair (Provence 2402) when it seceded from the Empire of Varroerth in 777.
Okhdzueg(2603) and Tsaegag(2604) continue to carry out a small amount of trade with one another. Okhdzueg is an agricultural world while Tsaegag conducts a limited amount of manufacturing. Although a huge market awaits them at Oekh Dal (2706), they are fearful of accidentally encountering a Viral egg.
Uedh Kal (3108), owned by the company of the same name, served as a reverse engineering/research institute. Although only legally permitted to deal with the Empire, the owners realized that a diversified client base was much more preferable. As such, they traded with regional governors in the Empire as well as corsairs and other interstellar states. Being somewhat remote, they were able to avoid getting hit with Virus for some time. Expecting to be attacked by warships, a much needed supply ship did not receive a thorough inspection. It contained an egg which, when hatched, went right to the environmental controls. Whether or not it is still present is unknown. Its remote location has been an inconvenience to privateers.

Subsector Timeline
Major events that have affected this subsector and the wider region that it lies within:
- ca -250,000: The Ancients were active within the sector, transplanting the Vargr onto Lair.
- -9235: the Vilani discover jump technology. A few explorers and settlers begin to pioneer the region.
- -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims a few rimward worlds and establishes a firm border. The Windhorn Rift and the absence of any significant Mains discourages large-scale Vilani expansion into the region.
- -3810: the Vargr discover jump technology and begin an era of expansion.
- -2400s: Vargr raiding into human-dominated areas significantly increases. This becomes known as the Vargr Pillaging.
- ca -2350: the Foergaz Coalition, an early polity, collapses.
- ca -1700: Vargr rimward expansion gradually ceases: the border between human and Vargr space stabilizes.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night. There is widespread regression within the area and some worlds become barren.
- The Year 0: to rimward-trailing, the Third Imperium is founded.
- circa 26: the Empire of Varroerth is founded.
- 300-420: the Imperial First Survey charts the subsector.
- 777: the Lair Protectorate is established.
- 995-1065: the Imperial Second Survey charts the subsector.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the subsector becomes widely available.
- 1095: Faarzgaen extremists capture a number of worlds and secede from the Empire of Varroerth. They declare a Jihad against neighbouring worlds.
- 1096: the Province of Llaeghskath secedes from the Empire of Varroerth, becoming the Llaeghskath Interacterate.
