Haladon is a high-population, pre-rich garden world with a billion or more sophonts in population size, and a near-ideal utopian environment conducive to most sophonts, but still lacks adequate population to expand its economy to a rich status.
- Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Haladon Cooperative in the Cabala Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world is also the overall capital of an interstellar government with the massive extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Haladon is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x3 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Haladon is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Haladon has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Haladon has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Haladon is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
Haladon is the capital of a small mercantile polity called the Haladon Cooperative.
It is a high population, post-rich garden world and is designated as an Amber Zone. At TL–12, this is one of the most advanced and important worlds in the Cabala Subsector of the Far Frontiers Sector. One of the reasons for its designation as an Amber Zone is its extremely restrictive Law Level.
The worlds of the Haladon Cooperative are havens for large merchants and free traders alike. With laws aimed at encouraging interstellar trade, the polity is one of the most impressive and diverse marketplaces in the Far Frontiers Sector.
World Starport[edit]
Haladon has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Haladon has a population of 8,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population has Imperial, Solomani, and Vlazhdumecta heritage.
- Many families can trace their ancestry to pre-Long Night Vilani colonists.
- This world supports a Bosaki enclave of the Bosak Starport Authority, providing speciality parts, maintenance and construction for BSA-built ships.
Urbanization[edit]
All urban centers include a large Market District, where goods and commodities of all kinds may be acquired.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
- Descar, a local language with Vlazhdumecta and Vilani origins.
- Local languages descended from Vlazhdumecta.
- Riftian Anglic, a dialect of one of the two principal languages of the Imperium.
- Zdetl, the language of the Zhodani and the Zhodani Consulate.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Haladon possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Haladon is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will likely have better rules of succession than a single dictator and may last longer, or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.
World Law (L)[edit]
Haladon has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 3 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: E (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: E (comprehensive)
- Efficiency: +4 (advanced)
World Culture[edit]
The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.
- Heterogenity: A (discordant)
- Acceptance: C (xenophilic)
- Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
- Symbols: D (very abstract)
