System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data

Kalasin orbits towards the outer edge of the habitable zone.

Chart H- Region Mw.png

Mainworld Size (S)

Kalasin is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Kalasin has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Kalasin has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

  • The world's seas are littered with icebergs and crusted with pack ice.

Satellites

Kalasin retains a single icy planetoid moon named Berg.

  • It orbits once every few days.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Kalasin is a member of the Little Loop region of the Greater Massilia Main, a major Main and important trade route lying across parts of Massilia Sector and Zarushagar Sector.

Point of Interest: The Berg

The Berg, Kalasin's tiny icy planetoid moon, is wholly owned by an individual named Braticus, who terms himself "a retired warrior android". He is rarely found without his trusty sword and dagger and habitually wears a vacc suit with a custom helmet that includes improved optics. Braticus has a personal security squad of eight armored men equipped with swords to deal with trouble.

A large outpost with a Class G Spaceport is tunneled into the planetoid.

  • There are believed to be 60 permanent residents on The Berg. It is considered extraterritorial to Kalasin.
  • In addition to three small bars and a number of other businesses, there are several "data brokers" – locally referred to as gossips or snitches – who have the ability to obtain all kinds of information, if the price is right.

World Starport (St)

Kalasin has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)

Kalasin has a population of 20,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

Linguistic Topography

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)

Kalasin possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)

Kalasin is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.

World Law (L)

Kalasin has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial Landed Nobility

Kalasin, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of four members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

Trade Data

  • Importance: 4 (important)

World Economy

  • Resources: B (abundant)
  • Labor: 6 (millions)
  • Infrastructure: D (comprehensive)
  • Efficiency: +2 (good)

World Culture

  • Heterogenity: 5 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: B (very friendly)
