The Borazio class Heavy Freighter is a TL–10 Heavy Freighter.

Description[edit]

Heavy freighter is something of a misnomer, as this thousand-ton vessel is still tiny compared to the mammoth corporate vessels that also ply the trade routes. Still, with a cargo capacity of 500 tons, the heavy freighter can serve the needs of a small colony. Its configuration is distributed, making landing impractical. The heavy freighter can be docked at a HighPort or unloaded using shuttles. It carries a single cargo shuttle. There are eight staterooms for the crew; however, such vessels are perennially understaffed. It has a pair of triple turrets for defence, equipped with sandcasters and lasers, but the lack of crew makes the freighter vulnerable to boarding actions.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Borazio's have been playing the backwaters of the Third Imperium for centuries. They are particularly commonly seen in Delphi Sector, Glimmerdrift Reaches Sector, Hinterworlds Sector, and Old Expanses Sector where they often transport vast amounts of goods to the Hive Federation and Solomani Confederation. The ships has become known as the bottom dollar but reliable cargo mover in these trailing area of the Third Imperium. [3]

Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]

Vessel Peculiarities: Borazio's were designed with only one goal: no frills, economy movement of cargo. Nothing else. No luxuries, No extras. Crews often complain of the underperformance of these no frills ship components, and captains often upgrade after purchase. [4]
