Mimu is a high-population world with a billion or more sophonts in population size. This world is designated an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.  The world has a colony on Ssi (Dagudashaag 0708). The world has a climate with temperatures at the upper range of human endurance.  This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Mimu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Lancian Cultural Region and the Domain of Vland. Mimu, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Mimu is located on the Vilani Main.

Stellar Data[edit]

Mimu has a single primary, a main sequence white star named Triss.

Mimu has a solitary primary star.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Mimu is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Mimu has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Mimu has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Mimu is an old world. There is little continuing tectonic activity.

Geographical features include:

  • Kiamuskeekik Basin: Fertile plains
  • Rmuree'm Mountains
  • S'ska Glacier
  • Skiree Mar highlands: One of the more desolate of the world's High Desert regions. Here is the geological formation called the Chee'mrskur Mikmui -- The World's Navel.
  • Uakhsiak Highlands
  • Ukrik Falls
  • Zusssu Ziari ocean

Arrid World Type 07.jpg

Mimu's ozone layer provides inadequate protection for non-native life. UV barrier creams or sprays, or melanin tablets, are advised for travellers who anticipate more than a half-hour's exposure each day.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

151px-Smrii.jpg

Extensive native life.

Vegetation on Mimu is a dark green-blue to exploit the greater proportion of blue and ultraviolet light.

The fauna are predominantly poikilotherms with a few homiotherms; the body pattern is commonly bilaterally symmetric and hexapedal.

Native Sophont (NIL): S'mrii[edit]

This is the homeworld of the S'mrii, an influential minor race.

History and Background[edit]

World Starport[edit]

Mimu has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Mimu has a population of 30,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).

World Demographics[edit]

The Human presence on Mimu is primarily limited to the Human-owned port of Zandervoort (known as ‘Snakepit’ to the locals), a wild and lawless city-state in the highlands, where the atmosphere is thinner, and the temperature sufficiently low for Humans to be comfortable.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

  • Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
  • Sfuizia, the primary language of the S'mrii, used throughout the S'mrii ConSentiency.
    • Various local S'mrii languages are also in use.
  • Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
    • Note that this language is in official use (as it is throughout the Imperium) but in practice is disfavoured by most S'mrii.

Urbanization[edit]

Thirty-six billion S'mrii live in huge metroplexes on the forested margins of the world's deeply-eroded ocean basins.

Cities include:

  • Triskskiss: population 7 billion
  • Chussria': 5.3 billion
  • Isstrakh: 4.9 billion
  • Kiarik: 4.2 billion
  • Zandervoort, AKA "Snakepit": 40 million, (Human enclave)

There are also the Canyon Cities, such as Mua and Ska'i; seemingly haphazard constructions retaining much of the character of S'mrii pre-sentient avian roosts.

The Subsector Ducal Palace is located in Ska'i, while the Imperial Subsector Administrative Headquarters is located in Triskskiss.

World Technology Level[edit]

Mimu possesses a Technology Level of TL–15 or TL-F in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Mimu is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will likely have better rules of succession than a single dictator and may last longer, or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.

World Law (L)[edit]

Mimu has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Culture[edit]

S'mrii society is highly stratified and formed from large socioeconomic groups known as phyla. Each phylum has an overall rank in S'mrii society, which is widely described as pyramidal. Phyla vary widely in size, having anywhere between 6,000 and 15 million members.

  • The basic social unit within a phylum is the Ka'usui (or "family") consisting of a pair of S'mrii, their children, and attendant Kiakh'iee. Three or four ka'usui make up an Sk*khua ("circle") which is often equated to the Human extended family.
  • Loyalty to the phylum governing council is heavily emphasized as part of a S'mrii education.

Historical Data[edit]

Ziru Sirka (-2422).png

Although Mimu was the site of a devastating nuclear war in -25,790 which almost annihilated the S'mrii, the world has long since been terraformed to its original verdant state.

Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:
