Ssi has an ideal environment and a balance of available water for producing food from plants, animals, or other lifeforms. The system supports a population in the 100s of millions, which makes it too urbanized to be an agricultural world. Government control of this world is by an external military force. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Mimu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Lancian Cultural Region and the Domain of Vland. Ssi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and a baronet, and the fiefdom of a viscount. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.   During the Long Night this world was named Uummairkuur.

History and Background[edit]

Ssi is a long-inhabited S'mrii world whose government is run by the ConSentiency from Mimu (Dagudashaag 0208). After ten thousand years it seems that the S'mrii of Ssi have no wish to pick up the actual government of their world themselves. When asked why they do not wish to govern themselves the S'mrii reply 'why should we do something that others are willing to do for us?' This attitude runs through all of society on Ssi; ironically, if a visitor wants something done then they must do it themselves because no-one local will do it for them.

World Starport[edit]

Ssi has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

  • Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
  • Sfuizia, the primary language of the S'mrii, used throughout the S'mrii ConSentiency.
  • Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
    • Note that this language is in official use (as it is throughout the Imperium) but in practice is disfavoured by most S'mrii.

World Technology Level[edit]

Ssi possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Ssi has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

This world is governed by Mimu.

World Culture[edit]

S'mrii society is highly stratified and formed from large socioeconomic groups known as phyla. Each phylum has an overall rank in S'mrii society, which is widely described as pyramidal. Phyla vary widely in size, having anywhere between 6,000 and 15 million members.

  • The basic social unit within a phylum is the Ka'usui (or "family") consisting of a pair of S'mrii, their children, and attendant Kiakh'iee. Three or four ka'usui make up an Sk*khua ("circle") which is often equated to the Human extended family.
  • Loyalty to the phylum governing council is heavily emphasized as part of a S'mrii education.
