System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The land mass of this planet is almost all swamp or steep mountains rising straight from the oceans.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Equus is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Equus has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Equus has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

Water World Islands 03b.jpg

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Equus is located on a major trade route to the Rhylanor Subsector.

It is home to a population of uplifted dolphins that assist the human inhabitants in herding the fish schools.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Equus has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Equus has a population of 200,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

  • Around 90% of the population (roughly 180 million individuals) is made up of humans.
  • About 10% of the population (approximately 20 million individuals) consists of Dolphins.

Urbanization[edit]

The population lives in underwater cities reached by submarine from the Downport atop Mount Bellis.

  • In addition to Equus Startown, other major settlements on the world include Gummifish, Ulir City, Kerouac, and Kagasisli.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Equus possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Equus is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Equus has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Equus, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 2 (ordinary)

World Economy[edit]

The locals make their living by seabed mining and fish-farming.

  • Resources: C (very abundant)
  • Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
  • Infrastructure: C (very extensive)
  • Efficiency: +2 (good)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: 8 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: A (very friendly)
  • Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
  • Symbols: B (abstract)
