System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

  • The atmospheric taint is caused by common species of plants that release fluorine gas into the atmosphere – this is inhaled and utilized by other native organisms.
  • Exposure to the atmosphere without appropriate protective equipment results in irritation to the eyes, respiratory irritation, severe shortness of breath, and the risk of a pulmonary edema. Repeated short periods of exposure cause fluorine to build up within the body, damaging internal organs and causing serious gastrointestinal issues. In addition, fluorine finds its way into the skeletal structure, resulting in bone weakness, chronic bone pain, and frequent fractures and breaks.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Perhaps best known of all species on the planet is the Mist Wraith, an 800 kg carnivore of incredible speed and power. Since fluorine is more energetic than oxygen, the Wraith is capable of seemingly incredible feats. Hunting the creature, and others like it, is big business on Toulon-Cadiz.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz has been designated a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.

  • Visitors are advised to act with caution.
  • The Amber Zone status has been posted due the combination of its dangerous atmosphere and deadly animal life.

It is believed by some that the planet name is from a dialect of Kadli, the Darmine primary language, though others dispute this, pointing out the similarity to city names in the Mediterranean region of Terra.

The world is known for the strange animal life which developed in its fluorine-tainted atmosphere. The planet is also home to many high-tech industries which take advantage of the atmosphere in their manufacturing processes.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz has a population of 300,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

World Law (L)[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Toulon-Cadiz, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
