Anselhome is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Sword Worlds Confederation in the Querion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- It is a mainworld which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- Anselhome is a member of the Spinward Main.
- It is one of the Entropic Worlds.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Anselhome is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Anselhome is a major moon of a gas giant.
Anselhome is the largest moon orbiting the system's only gas giant. It is flexed by tidal forces and is seismically active. Its easily accessible mineral wealth attracted colonists who hollowed living quarters into the rock, some of which became quite large. Some of the atmosphere for the underground habitats is processed from the gases put out by Anselhome's volcanoes.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Anselhome is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Anselhome has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Anselhome has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, trace atmosphere world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Amazingly, Anselhome supports a form of native life: bacteria and lichens in the low-lying valleys.
Careful analysis by highly qualified biochemists has revealed that the dominant lichen form has been tailored to collect certain heavy metals, concentrating them in the coral-like structures they leave behind after death.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Anselhome is one of the Entropic Worlds, subject to ongoing disputes over ownership by the Sword Worlds Confederation and the Darrian Confederation. In the Fourth Frontier War the system was captured by the Sword Worlds.
The original Darrian mining base, dating to pre-Maghiz times, remains hidden somewhere beneath the surface. Its precise location has been lost, and the continual burial of the surface under highly metallic outfall and lava flows has prevented sensor systems from locating it. Many miners dream of rediscovering the complex, hoping to gain access to astounding pre-Maghiz technology.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Anselhome has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Anselhome has a population of 600,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population have Imperial, Sword Worlder, and Daryen ancestry.
Urbanization[edit]
The population live in underground dwellings that have been tunneled into the surface. Networks of dwellings are maze-like and can extend for great distances.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Sagamaal, the language of the Sword Worlds.
- Te-Zlodh, the language of the Daryens.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Anselhome possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Anselhome is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Law (L)[edit]
Anselhome has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Later Historical Eras[edit]
History-Era: Milieu 1120[edit]
Anselhome was recaptured by the Darrians during the final stages of the Fifth Frontier War.
Initial joy at liberation was followed by a brief but violent civil war between various political factions, which resulted in the loss of many Darrian lives. Almost all collaborators with the Sword Worlder administration were killed in retribution; a fact which wasn't recorded in Anselhome's historical records. The Darrian Confederation poured relief aid into the mining colony, soothing ill-feelings regarding their lack of action until this point, but the Third Imperium continues to be vilified for its role in preventing a liberation effort from occurring earlier.
History-Era: New Era[edit]
Anselhome replaced its government in 1138 in an effort to attract new trade and investment.
