General Description

The Sutherland class is a streamlined, flattened wedge with a mean width of 160 meters, a mean height of 95 meters, and a length of around 400 meters: a boxy dorsal superstructure and the squared bows adds an additional 40 meters of height and dramatically increase the internal space. The ship has a total enclosed volume of approximately 2,700,000 cubic meters.

1.	Tonnage	The Sutherland class is constructed using a 200,000 dTon hull built in a wedge configuration. The hull is streamlined and has good atmospheric capability: its atmospheric handling characteristics are entirely reliant on its onboard gravitic systems. Individual sections of the ship are divided by bulkhead walls. There are multiple personnel airlocks. The cargo hold is accessed by doors and has a loading ramp. The bulk of the hull prevents surface landings without the use of a hull cradle to support the vessel.
2.	Crew	1,782 with 200 marines. 100 command, 700 engineering, 341 gunnery, 41 flight, 400 services, 200 marines. Double occupancy 894 staterooms.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a DeVoss-type Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-5 drive, and a Power Plant-6, giving performance of Jump-2, 5G acceleration, and producing 12,000 Energy Points. The ship has an agility rating of 3 and an emergency agility of 5. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for one Jump-2 and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. The engineering section has a main control room. Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery. The jump drive utilizes a hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/6fib Computer: there is a backup Model/6fib Computer. There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, an advanced sensor array, and has an Avionics suite. It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command.
5.	Hardpoints	2,000 hardpoints.
6.	Armament	Ten particle accelerator bays, forty 100 ton missile bays, four hundred and twenty dual fusion gun turrets, four hundred triple beam laser turrets. The weapons include the best spinal mounted factor K meson gun available at this technology level.
7.	Defenses	Ten 100 ton repulsor bays, five hundred triple sand caster turrets. The defenses include very thick factor 12 hull armor. There are factor 1 nuclear dampeners and meson screens with back ups.
8.	Craft	10 x 10T single place Light Fighters, 10 x 30T Ship's Boats, and the marines have twenty capsule launchers and 180 assault capsules reafdy for orbital insertion.
9.	Fuel Treatment	Fuel Scoops and On Board Fuel Purification. They are equipped with fuel scoops and on board fuel purification for wilderness ocean refueling.
10.	Cost	MCr264,701.55 Qty: MCr211,761.24
11.	Construction Time	224 weeks standard. 180 weeks in quantity.
12.	Comments	This ship is the first of her class and a few more have been built. They serve as the flagships of the naval squadrons. These have been recently completed as part of a massive arms race against their enemies The Last Line.

History & Background (Dossier)

The class are designed and built at Jaradin for the Unity of Sed and primarily operate within the coreward parts of Halcyon Sector. One prototype vessel is known to have been completed and an additional three production models are believed to be in service. Only fleet admirals can command these vessels.
