Base X is a poor moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in population size.
- It lacks the population and means to expand its economy at this point in time.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Khipge Subsector of Zarushagar Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It is a member of the Khipge Line cluster.
- It is considered to be part of Darmine Space.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Base X has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Base X is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Base X has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Base X has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Base X is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
It is a member of the Khipge Line, a cluster and minor trade route in the central part of Zarushagar Sector.
The world was a part of Darmine Space, a region that survived both the collapse of the Rule of Man and the Long Night largely due to the efforts of the Darmine, who under the aegis of the Darmine Corporate continued to conduct trade and commerce, maintained a degree of law and order, and helped defend against threats. It was not a state, rather a broad area in which the Darmine and others were active: the populations of most of its worlds were of Vilani or Terran descent, with few native Darmine ever being present. Despite this, it is regarded as a Darmine "Golden Age" and most worlds are proud of their association with it. The Darmine Space region was absorbed by the expanding Third Imperium following the Ilelish Pacification Campaign.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Base X has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world hosts a Naval Base associated with the Imperial 9th Fleet.
World Population (P)[edit]
Base X has a population of 600,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Base X possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Base X is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will likely have better rules of succession than a single dictator and may last longer, or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.
World Law (L)[edit]
Base X has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. Most worlds with this law level may be an Amber Zone or Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). All aspects of life rigidly controlled. There is no difference between the police and the military. This world is a full-fledged police state. Oppression is legalized, though not routine.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Base X, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial viscount.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 2 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: D (very abundant)
- Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
- Infrastructure: B (very extensive)
- Efficiency: +5 (very abstract)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: D (fragmented)
- Acceptance: A (very friendly)
- Strangeness: A (incomprehensible)
- Symbols: F (extremely abstract)
World Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:
- circa -250,000: the Ancients are active within the sector.
- -9235: the Vilani discover jump drive technology. Over the centuries pioneers and settlers gradually spread across Charted Space.
- -5400 to -4015: the Vilani Consolidation Wars.
- -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims and settles worlds across the region.
- -2404 to -2215: the Interstellar Wars.
- -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man administers the worlds of the region.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night.
- The Year 0: the Third Imperium is founded.
- 300-420: the Imperial First Survey charts the system.
- 604-622: the Civil War.
- 624: the Express Boat Network is established.
- 800-820: the Psionics Suppressions.
- 995-1065: the Imperial Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the system becomes widely available.
