System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data

Mainworld Size (S)

Ishag is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Ishag has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Ishag has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Native Lifeforms

Abundant primitive native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)

Native Sophont

Ishag is home to the Darmine, a minor human race.

  • The Darmine are not radically different from their Terran counterparts.
  • Like the Vilani or the Zhodani, any differences are minor. Interbreeding over the millennia has also helped to "wash out" some of the characteristics developed by the Darmine on Ishag.

World Starport (St)

Ishag has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)

Ishag has a population of 5,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

  • High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
  • Around 80% of the population (roughly 4 billion individuals) consists of Darmine.
  • About 20% of the population (approximately 1 billion individuals) is made up of baseline humans and other sophonts.

Linguistic Topography

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)

Ishag possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)

Ishag is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.

World Law (L)

Ishag has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial Landed Nobility

Ishag, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

Trade Data

  • Importance: 4 (important)

World Economy

  • Resources: H (extremely abundant)
  • Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
  • Infrastructure: E (comprehensive)
  • Efficiency: +3 (improved)

World Culture

A common religion on Ishag and in surrounding systems is the Followers of Telor, a codified form of a loose polytheism. Telorists believe that anything that happens in fours (or multiples or fractions of 4) has a significant hidden meaning. The sun, the moons, the land, and the water are seen as primary deities.

  • Heterogenity: 8 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: D (very xenophilic)
  • Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
  • Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)
