Ughurz is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Ughurz has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Ughurz has 85-95% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few small continents, and a number of islands and archipelagos. Dry land is limited. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History & Background (Dossier)

Ughurz was originally claimed by the Vilani more than eight millennia ago and was eventually absorbed into the Ziru Sirka. It was nominally under the authority of the Rule of Man prior to the Long Night.

• It has Ziru Sirka-era ruins and remains on its surface.

World Starport (St)

Ughurz has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

• The world is host to a Vargr Naval Base.

Ughurz has a population of 6,000 sophonts (thousands).

• This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
• The population entirely consists of Vargr.

Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:

• -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims and settles worlds across the region.
• -3810: the Vargr discover jump technology and begin an era of expansion.
• -2404 to -2215: the human Interstellar Wars rage to rimward. The region becomes increasingly neglected.
• -2400s: Vargr raiding into the region significantly increases. This becomes known as the Vargr Pillaging.
• -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man nominally administers the worlds of the region. Conflicts escalate between Vargr and humans as the Vargr occupy former Ziru Sirka territory.
• circa -1700: Vargr rimward expansion gradually ceases: the border between human and Vargr space stabilizes.
• -1776 to 0: the Long Night. There is widespread regression within the area and some worlds become barren.
• The Year 0: to rimward, the Third Imperium is founded.
• 300-420: the Imperial First Survey charts the system.
• 995-1065: the Imperial Second Survey charts the system.
• 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the system becomes widely available.
