Skarno is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.

  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Mizar Subsector of Zarushagar Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
  • It lies within the Ilelish Trail Cluster.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Skarno is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Skarno has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Skarno has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Skarno is a member of the Ilelish Trail, a cluster and trade route lying on the coreward edge of the Great Rift. The Trail crosses the border between Ilelish Sector and Zarushagar Sector. Despite containing Kaas, the capital of Mizar Subsector, the Trail has always been overshadowed by the larger Liasdi Main to coreward.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Skarno has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

This world is administered by the Admiral's Office of the Imperial Naval Base.

Skarno has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
